A funny story from the very beginning, because I want to be clear how long this has been on our radar.

PrusaSlicer 2.4 introduced opt-in anonymous telemetry. Shortly after release, we started seeing entries in our database labeled "BambuSlicer." We hadn't heard of BambuStudio yet. Their internal builds were accidentally configured to send telemetry to our servers instead of theirs 🤭

That's how we found out a fork existed, before they publicly launched. And after launch the community had to call out BambuLab to release the BambuStudio source code in accordance with the AGPL license https://t.co/wQg0EWxmsy

Borisはサイドプロジェクトだったものをここまで育て上げた。Claude Codeは年間売上25億ドル超、GitHubの全コミットの4%を占めるプロダクトになった。リークに対する彼の公式コメントはこうだ。失敗したのはシステムであって、人ではない。手動だったデプロイのステップは自動化されるべきだった。パッケージ設定の除外ルールがひとつ抜けていたせいで、.mapファイルが通常のnpm publishに紛れ込んだ、と。

ミスを犯したエンジニアをクビにする会社が得られる結果はひとつだけ。他のエンジニア全員が「ミスは隠すものだ」と学ぶ。ヒヤリハットは報告されなくなる。次の設定ミスは指摘されるのではなく、揉み消される。公になるインシデント1件と引き換えに、水面下で起きる何十件ものインシデントを抱え込むことになる。

Googleは15年前にこれをSREの教義として体系化した。Google、Amazon、Microsoftの大規模障害の反省レポートは、デフォルトで「blame-free（個人を責めない）」方式で行われる。インシデント頻度のデータがその有効性を証明しているからだ。ミスを罰するチームはエラー率が高くなる。ミスを計測・可視化するチームはエラー率が下がる。

Anthropicはプロダクトロードマップの全容を競合他社すべてにさらしてしまった。それに対するプロダクト責任者の対応はこうだ。プロセスのどこが壊れていたか、何を自動化するか、再発防止のために次に何をリリースするか。それを明確に示した。

数十億ドル規模のプロダクトを作れるエンジニアが辞めずに残り続ける会社とは、そういう会社だ。設定ファイル1つのミスでクビにしない会社に流出されるのを防ぐには、自分たちがそういう会社になるしかない。
