I agree TikTok is really bad for such, but the algorithm is reflecting the death of subcultures and immediate community. I think it’s great we can find community online, but what goes missing is the endeavour to create/find spaces organically in person. Virality over organicity
A lot of mischaracterization is really just accountability avoidance. Some people need you to be “the problem” so they can justify their behavior. And sometimes people intentionally mischaracterize you bc it’s easier for them to talk about to other people.
