NEW: Lorenzo Salgado Araujo's son Ronaldo just spoke at Houston City Council, telling Mayor John Whitmire & city council what they can do to help make sure someone else isn't killed by ICE: end the Houston Police Department's partnership with ICE
Would love for an enterprising reporter to ask any of these statewide officials their thoughts on Bo French's recent call to round up all Chinese people, or whether they have also read the obscure French white nationalist novel he recently quoted.
Holding Houstonians on the side of the road for hours isn’t keeping our community safe.
The Houston Chronicle reporting appears to confirm that the harmful practices our original immigration ordinance sought to end, before amended, are continuing.
We should not continue diverting HPD officers and taxpayer-funded resources to assist an agency that endangers Houstonians and continues to operate without oversight, control, or accountability.

Watch @prem_thakker ask Sen. Susan Collins if she regrets funding ICE given its recent killings, including of 26-year-old Maine resident Joan Sebastian Guerrero. Collins defends herself, saying it went to bodycams & training. ICE wasn’t wearing bodycams when they killed Guerrero.
Former Councilmember Robert Gallegos blasts GOP members of Houston City Council for not publicly demanding an independent investigation into the fatal ICE shooting. "Shame on y'all."
We joined our community to honor the life of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a hard-working, 52-year-old husband and father whose death has left his family, the Magnolia Park community, and Texans across our state searching for answers.
Please consider supporting Lorenzo’s family during this difficult time:

I’m saddened to learn of the passing of Senator Sheev Palpatine. We had our differences, but he was a true pleasure to work with. I recall fondly how he brought a much-needed sense of humor to our good-faith negotiations that ended with his decision to bless the military operation to destroy Alderaan.
Though I respectfully voiced my objections, I appreciated his principled honesty in his push to replace the outdated democratic republic with the Empire.
He was a strong advocate for his beliefs, and I admired his power of persuasion that included force-chokes and blue-lightning beams that inflicted significant pain on his political opponents.
He will be missed - the Imperial Senate won’t be the same without him. He was the best of us.
Today, for the second time in a week, ICE officers have killed a driver in the streets and the federal government is again saying the officers were not even wearing body cameras. This is absolutely insane.

To Haley Stevens’s credit, she isn’t wishy washy at all on Israel/Gaza. She has made her position quite clear.
She was one of just 12 House Democrats who broke with the party to vote for a GOP Israel assistance bill that did not include humanitarian aid for Gaza.
She has consistently supported America providing unconditional aid to Israel, and continues to believe that aid should not be conditioned on the Israeli government’s adherence to international law.
She voted for legislation to sanction the ICC after it sought and later issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu & Yoav Gallant for committing war crimes in Gaza.
She has refused to sign multiple House letters condemning settler violence in the West Bank.
AIPAC has spent $40 million (and counting) on her behalf, and she records a thank you video to them every year.
I can keep going.
This post is important. Federal agencies are blocking local officials from accessing evidence about the fatal ICE shooting in Houston, so the Harris County District Attorney's office is asking the community to send them any evidence so they can work to hold ICE accountable.
When Texas first passed in-state tuition for undocumented students, it passed the Legislature with an overwhelming bipartisan majority.
Nobody opposed it in committee.
Rick Perry signed the bill.

If anyone wants to skip the read, overall points are that when ICE/police shoot/murder anyone, even if they are in unmarked cars, the person who is shot bears the blame for not complying. Oh, and immigrants are bad and raise housing costs even if we are not criminals.
Does the guy who wrote this victim-blaming rubbish get paid to do so? His very first sentence is nonsense. He goes on to mischaracterize Renee Good's death in MN, where she was given contradictory instructions from ICE and was not a danger to the officers.
Read the latest from @KennethRWebster in the @houstonchron: Houstonians need to stop rushing to judgement on ICE — and on Mayor Whitmire

Houston: the federal government is claiming that they put armed officers on your streets without body cameras and that they can shoot you in the street without providing any video footage of what happened and your mayor is lying and telling you the city can't even investigate it
The @TexasTribune is asking for any video footage related to this fatal Houston shooting by ICE. You can text me anonymously or on Signal at 832-729-3421.

We must not allow ICE's violence to become normal in the streets of Houston.
My op-ed in the @HoustonChron echoes family and community demands for an immediate and impartial investigation into the killing of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, with all available video and findings released as soon as possible.
To every Houstonian living with fear, regardless of status, please know that you belong here. Thousands of Houstonians are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with you, and I am one of them.
I was proud to stand alongside Mr. Salgado’s family this morning, and I will continue standing with our community in the long days ahead.
@atrupar Like Melania coming out of nowhere to deny ties to Epstein a few months ago.
Also, maybe Vance's party shoukd stop constantly making accusations of election fraud, even after they've failed to prove their case in court.
