Christmas can be bittersweet when someone you love is missing.🎄

Grief is a strange thing. It doesn’t follow rules or schedules. It can come out of nowhere and take your breath away, a sudden punch to the heart that can feel paralyzing. The holidays make that absence even more glaring.

I’m grateful to have reached a place where I can look back and smile, laugh, and feel comforted by the beautiful memories and the life that helped shape who I am. I’m so deeply blessed for the time I had.

I’m sharing this because I know there are so many people in the world missing their person. If that’s you, I’m so sorry. I’m thinking about you. My heart hurts for you.

I believe we’re placed on this earth for a purpose. One way we honor those we’ve lost is by living well in their name — and in my case, by carrying forward the fire they placed in me: standing for truth, exposing what is hidden, and working to make the world safer.

Outrage is exploding in upstate New York after photos surfaced showing what parents say are wooden confinement boxes inside classrooms, allegedly used to punish students - including kids with special needs.
