Then, when data is collected, teachers & CAs are repeatedly asked for the same info by different people as (it seems) officials don't know how to pull the info from the databases themselves. So yes, provision of a data administrator is needed, but that's only the starting point!

I've always been gobsmacked that data collection is so poor in SA. The DOE can't track individuals competently so doesn't actually know what the drop-out rate is, or even where kids are... 🧵

The balance & relationship between provincial and national depts is a constant battleground, & mostly political. Consequently, to teachers on the ground it feels like the left & right hands don't know what the other is doing.... 3/4

Had a "talk" with my class today, in which I told them exactly what I thought about their rudeness, selfishness, lack of respect for me, lack of work ethic, etc. Then I emailed their grade heads & parents. Only 2 of them stayed back after the lesson to apologize. *TWO*. Ja nee.

@misswrayt All the above. Also, what about explaining how you decide which modality to use for trading specific content - e.g. to teach x would you use drama, diagrams, zoetropes, research essays, traditional talk-&-chalk, source-based stuff, story boarding, videos, etc...
