@nancybaym I fully expect Meta Horizon to go meta like Second Life did. Filled with academics observing what everyone is doing there, only to discover we were all observing ourselves.
@PhilOnEdTech I'm curious to watch this latest cycle to see what a focus on courseware to support Black, Latino, indigenous and low-income students means. 🤔Will any adopting institutions build faculty dev. programs for inclusive teaching with this courseware? Skeptical.
@d_kompare Since I left academia I've had more opportunity to work for companies anywhere, but without having to move at all. Not a flexibility I would have predicted. Permanent WFH has its downsides, but having a career without leaving my family has been a blessing.
It is possible to challenge students without traumatizing them. It is possible for a course to be “hard” and also flexible, accessible, joyful, supportive, not arbitrary or cruel, student-centered, etc.
@nancybaym Maybe once a month at most. More during 2020/2021. Usually someone in my network commented, so it shows up in my feed. Framed, as others have said, as a story of resilience, thanking employer for support, or reprioritizing one’s life.
@BriannaWu 100% agree. I actually LIKED this season until the last two eps. Remove the whole Delores storyline and it would be great sci fi story. Don’t care what happens in/to/with the sublime.
