Thrilled to say my first cover story for ⁦@TexasMonthly⁩ is out today. It’s the article that accompanies our new ‘Stephenville’ podcast. Writing a TM cover has been a dream of mine since I was like fifteen. Thanks to all who made it possible.

@curtyowell Thank you, Dr. Yowell!

It was an honor to interview such an amazing (and hilarious) woman 🫶🏽

[Texas Monthly @TexasMonthly]

Opal Lee led the movement to gain federal recognition of Juneteenth.

This June 19, she’ll again walk 2.5 miles, marking the 2.5 years it took for news of the Emancipation Proclamation to reach Texas. https://t.co/vjAIySzRQa

@rosecahalan Thank you, Rose!

"What we’re trying to get people to understand is that Juneteenth is freedom for everybody." —Opal Lee, 96. Beautiful interview by @ninacate01 and amazing portrait by Rahim Fortune https://t.co/rOQSPCKWTr

I’m thrilled to share the published Q&A for @TexasMonthly’s web with the legendary Opal Lee just in time for Juneteenth! It was an honor to interview such an amazing storyteller like herself.
