@DestinLegarie How do you reset the fact that salaries in the US are 3x or 4x than anywhere else and they can produce videogames as good as any US based studio? No, unfortunately this is a bleeding that won't ever stop. Like when US manufacturing was cheaper to produce elsewhere. Gone forever.
@PaulTassi Btw I do you think Sony is in a better spot? All they have to show is yet another 3rd person action game. I think I'm cool with it, let them both churn out their big IP's games. The gaming industry doesn't need them to pretend to care about games anymore.
@PaulTassi@Forbes Here is the thing. D2 not being a live service anymore will maintain decent numbers because people are tired of FOMO and over monetization.
@ReforgeGaming@PlayStation well... laying off 50% of Bungie sounds harsh but at this point looks like it's what is gonna happen anyway giving that they are stopping D2 development and Marathon isn't a hit.
@ReforgeGaming@PlayStation Here is my take for D3, layoff 50% of bungie. Keep a core team in the US. Open a new Studio in Croatia or Poland or some East European country. Hire 500-600 Devs. Make D3 for 200M$ in 4-5y while having a cheap enough burn rate to maintain the live service for the next decade.
@ReforgeGaming@PlayStation Alternatively, make a join venture with Netease (D Rising) in China. Let them make D3 while Bungie co-directs the whole thing.
@PaulTassi@Forbes All my friends quit because they couldn't keep up or they got so mad at the seasonal content getting striped before they were able to play it. If they ever made D3 that should be more thought through or it ends up being unsustainable long term.
@ReforgeGaming I've been saying this for a while, the US has price themself out of the gaming market. The next two decades will be run by Asian and Western Europe game studios.
@ReforgeGaming It's just unsustainable to build a 3A studio in the US nowadays. Sony and Xbox better start to buy abroad studios while maintaining a strong local core team directing them.
@trulyyblu@Sony Yeah I know, Managers are the only ones to blame for years long of bad decisions. But given the situation I think a reset is needed. The silver line here is that even with everything against them devs cooked a fabulous extraction shooter. Bungie Magic is still alive.
@trulyyblu@Sony Seeing how they were bleeding players and how costly it was to produce new content I think Marathon could be the groundwork to attempt to build a new D3 with more up to day tech standards. Let them cook.
@trulyyblu@Sony Nobody asked for Marathon but now that is already made what you gonna do? Kill it anyways? D2 run his course and I think they decided to stop because the engine was so inefficient and broken that they couldn't fix it without another major sunset.
@TheTrueVanguard I see, it's a fair assessment. I been following you for many years since early D2. Unfortunately Marvel Rivals isn't my jam so when I saw you playing Marathon I was happy to jump back into your videos again :)
