"Underrated" is the right word. Eagen's been on our board since June 5 — 10 separate days flagged, and he's a year young for Double-A — but he's never once led our morning edition. The system keeps noticing him and never quite shouts about him.

Eagen is one of the more underrated pitchers in the Cardinals’ farm system. I’m excited to see what the Cardinals do with him this offseason. His biggest focus should be adding some fastball velocity, but there’s a lot to like with what he’s shown.

The caveat: he’s a catcher, and the data doesn't look at the glove. I’m not telling you he’s the best prospect in baseball. I’m telling you the bat is doing something real, and the system has been saying so since May.
