Craziest experience yesterday. Apparently, there’s a car insurance company that has gone bankrupt and clients were not informed. Cops are hunting in Mombasa looking for people with this insurance and getting them into trouble. It’s actually crazy they are getting away with this.

The cops wanted to detain the car as if it was my fault. We even called our agent to explain it to them lakini wapi. Useless people those ones.

When I moved to Kilifi County, I couldn't believe the levels of poverty here. I thought mud huts were a thing of the past. Not here. I met kids who were not going to school because their parents couldn't afford 500 shillings for school uniform. I bought the uniforms. I saw parents auctioning their girls to old white men. I was told not to say anything because that's what poverty does to people. I wrote about it and was vilified. I knew then Kenya was not independent and the biggest traitors in the country are politicians. Nobody talks of Giriamas as a marginalised community because they have been led to believe they can only work as gardeners, cooks and sex workers. In the whole of Kilifi County there is only ONE university. Malindi has no college or university. Imagine this historic city that Vasco de Gama found refuge in has no higher education facility. Instead tourists are led to the Vasco de Gama pillar as if it is part of Kenya's heritage, not a symbol of occupation.
