⁉️💥NEW: 'I can’t believe this conspiracy of silence. Do they care? I want to be proven wrong.' Union leader hits out at lack of Stormont budget
🗣@nipsa General Secretary @CarmelGates has hit out at the lack of a Stormont budget, warning of serious consequences for public services.
🎤Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 has been speaking to the union leader about her concerns, as the Executive has yet to agree a budget.
She says Northern Ireland must be funded based on need and not at the expense of services.
Stormont ministers have made clear they believe more money is needed from London, with discussions continuing between the Finance Minister, the Treasury and Secretary of State Hilary Benn.
First Minister @moneillsf and deputy First Minister @little_pengelly have asked for a meeting with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, but that has not happened yet.
Speaking to Bauer Media last week, the Secretary of State said he is continuing to speak to the Finance Minister, while also stressing he wants to see the Executive take steps “for itself”.
He also highlighted the “additional funding” that has already been provided.
On @ViewFrmStormont tonight:
💥'Burst the budget' - that is the message from @nipsa to Stormont ministers in the absence of an agreed budget.
You can watch the report in full at 10.45pm on @utv.
