I've written a blog for @bbkpolitics about the issues with the role of the Minister for Women and Equality. You can read it and my MSc dissertation on the subject here https://t.co/5BGSgBSpxm but given discussions on ministerial turnover today I've summarised here 1/10
@TherealNihal I live in south London and they’re currently consulting on school closures due to drop in pupils. My kids are in primary school and are in classes with significantly less than the maximum of 30. So definitely round here. I appreciate the position may be different elsewhere.
The new Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer seems to be keeping his commitment to have a 50/50 cabinet. But will he go one step further and make the Minister for Women and Equality a standalone position with a full Cabinet brief?
And just over 12 hours later it turns out another of their candidates is being investigated by the Gambling Commission. Did Rishi Sunak break a mirror or walk under a ladder or something 😂🤦♀️
Featuring an anecdote about the colouring prize I won at a regional Labour Party conference in the mid 1980s. Spoiler alert - it was not a cash prize 🌹
“That sense that there's no jeopardy anymore may encourage people away from the Conservative Party."
Trying to spook voters with talk of a Labour ‘supermajority’ could backfire says @PollyMackenzie.

I spent the day at A&E with my Mum who is poorly with probably a bad infection. The staff were kind and amazing. We spent most of the time sat in a queue in a corridor along with many other patients. On a Thursday afternoon. Capacity was apalling. People were screaming with pain.
@south_railway Hi there. All the trains are borked. Am stuck at Farnborough station - there was a train here for 10 mins waiting - why couldn’t they take us?
Just heard Rishi Sunak on the news headlines giving a speech about sector specific maths teaching, and I honestly thought it was a clip of Maurice from the IT Crowd.
My blog for @bbkpolitics (from a year ago) shows how the political establishment have been guilty of this failure. On the day a violent rapist in a position of trust is sentenced to 30+ years in prison, shouldn’t our leaders prioritise womens policies? https://t.co/5BGSgBRRHO
Once again they sure do really prioritize being a minister for women. I mean I guess it's a hat doffing to all the multitasking women of the world providing their labour for free to prop up economies.
@jessphillips It’s an unfortunate and long-lasting pattern that has continued since the precedent was set when the job was created. My blog here for @bbkpolitics gives an overview. https://t.co/5BGSgBRRHO
