Such granulation allows a greater contact surface between the wood and incident IR radiation, maintains granulometric uniformity, removes the oxidized outer surface layer, and prevents the formation of specular highlights

@AlmaRevilla5@LatinXChem Hi Alma! Thank you ☺️ Wood is essentially composed of cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin, and extractives. Wood species will have a different amount of each compound and types of extractives. The NIR spectra will reflect that
@MYCombariza@LatinXChem It has been proven effective not only to identify similar species but also to determine the provenance within the same species. Despite that, we use a portable device that allows in-field analysis, such as sample inspection posts.
Thus, EPO and soft-PLS-DA proved to be an effective strategy to enable the application of NIR technology in field conditions for wood species identification #LatinXChem#LXChemAna@LatinXChem#Ana23
