India skipped the obvious path. The Kalpakkam plant uses the Copper-Chlorine cycle, a chemical loop that splits water using raw heat from a nuclear reactor. No middleman electricity. Heat goes in, hydrogen comes out, carbon stays at zero.

During his campaign for first term, Donald Trump was asked how he showed $916 million net operating losses in 1995 and setting it off for next 18 years without paying any federal taxes.

Not knowing what to answer, Trump said:

​"I absolutely used it, and so did Warren Buffett. Warren Buffett took a massive deduction."

We've to learn from Buffett as to how to deal with facts and data without being emotional or vindictive.

The very next day Buffett shared his income tax returns and said:

​"I have paid federal income tax every year since 1944, when I was 13. Though, being a slow starter, I owed only $7 in tax that year. I have copies of all 72 of my returns and none uses a carryforward."

He further noted that while he made $2.85 billion in charitable contributions in 2015, tax laws properly limited his deductions, meaning more than $2.85 billion of his donations were not taken as deductions and never would be.

He asked Trump to share his tax returns in public. Not knowing what to do, Trump said he is under IRS audit and cannot publicly share his returns.

For which Buffett responsded:

"I have been audited by the IRS multiple times and am currently being audited. I have no problem in releasing my tax information while under audit. Neither would Mr. Trump -at least he would have no legal problem."

Buffett then invited Trump to any place, any time before the election so they could both bring their tax returns, sit down, and let the public ask them questions.

Trump never accepted the invitation.

From then on Trump never once even uttered the name Warren Buffett.

Looks like Trump no longer even eat buffets.

In the 2016 Bengal Assembly Elections, BJP won 3 seats

In 2021, BJP won 77

In 2026 the same BJP is winning 204 seats and is on the way to a total majority

They went from 3 to 200 in 2 election cycles in a state where they were virtually non-existent till 10 years ago.

They went from nobodies to forming the govt in 10 years.

I don't think this has happened in Bengal or Indian electoral history.

The Opposition has to understand that the BJP is an electoral machine that they have never seen before. They play the long game and they play it well.

If they are still not comprehending what they are up against, they will be steamrolled sooner or later.

While India recently celebrated its tariffs to US dropping to 18%, a pact b/w U.S. & Bangladesh has thrown a wrench into the works ? !

10 quick points. Bolded some points 👇

1. While India got 18% tariff from US & it (rightly) felt like a massive win for Indian exporters - it looks like it set a floor that US is now using as a bargaining chip with others.

2. Last evening, US & Bangladesh signed a Agreement on Reciprocal Trade - similar to ours. While Bangladesh’s base reciprocal tariff will be 19% (slightly higher than India's 18%).. the fineprint has a 'zero-duty'clause that India doesn't have.

3. Here is what is says -> "The United States commits to establish a mechanism that will allow for certain textile and apparel goods from Bangladesh to receive a zero reciprocal tariff rate". Basically if Bangladesh buys " U.S. produced cotton & man-made fiber textile inputs" it's garment exports into the U.S. get tariffed at 0% !

4. Why does this matter for India ? Historically, Bangladesh has been a massive buyer of Indian yarn. If Bangladesh pivots to buying US cotton - they get the twin benefit of raw materials & 0% entry into the US.

5. India, China, Brazil. U.S. are the biggest cotton growers. China & India also have some of the largest spindle capacity in the world.

6. China cotton has been out because of the allegations of forced labour etc (Xinjiang cotton). So Indian cotton was dominant here - and as I said we/India also has some of the largest spinning capacity in the world.

7. Fundamentally, India is already struggling to match Bangladesh’s competitiveness in the garment sector due to their lower labor costs & big scale. If Bangladesh now gets a 0% tariff while India stays stuck at 18%, the price gap is quite big.

8. By the way, Bangladesh has committed to 'protect internationally recognized labor rights' & 'adopt high levels of environmental protection'. By aligning with US regulatory standards, they are removing the 'ethical/quality' shield that Indian exporters (sometimes) have used to justify higher prices.

9. Our textile hubs like Tirupur, Surat etc are now not just fighting against a plain competitor anymore - they are fighting a US-Bangladesh supply chain pact (Maybe Iam exaggerate here to make a point)

10. As the management of Pearl Global told us this morning - prima-facie - it looks like the advantage for Bangladesh continues.

Japanese Prime Minister was forced to resign today as public resented the signing of high tariffs agreement with US and commitment to invest close to half a trillion dollars in US.

In his parting address, Japanese PM mentioned how he was forced to sign the unfavourable deal.

Being repeatedly nudged by Trump to invest in US, South Korean companies Hyundai and LG energy was building a electric vehicle factory in Georgia.

Around 475 South Koreans working in that facility with valid visa was arrested by federal immigration agents, chained, treated inhumanely and jailed. This has caused huge resentment in South Korea.

South Korea is sending a chartered flight to bring those citizens back.

Japan and South Korea are long term US allies. They are being repeatedly arm twisted. Terms of their trade agreement with US are kept on being changed at Trump’s whims and fancies.

In the mean time, The Jerusalem Post, Israel's number one newspaper has advised it's government to stand firm like India. It says national honour is not a luxury but far reaching strategic asset.

Even if there is a trade deal in future with US, under current administration, there is no guarantee that it would be honoured. It would keep on humiliating India based on Trump’s whims and fancies.

We are destined to suffer for next 3.5 years. Either by losing self respect and agreeing to ever changing US terms or have no deal and suffer the consequences.

I sincerely believe however poor we are, our self respect and sovereignty should never be compromised.

Though it may sound harsh, our economy should be ready to go through immense pain for next few years.

Things are moving only towards that direction. Unless some miracle happens, this is our near term destiny.

Trump only fears two countries in the world, China and Russia. They are equally capable of inflicting pain to US.

We should also work towards gaining such strength.

3.A remainder to China - Without naming China, PM stated that connectivity which byepass sovereignty looses trust and meaning - showing we're not submitting to China's dominance.

Last night, India's foreign secretary Vikram Misri merely asked Pakistan to stick to ceasefire agreement. Close to midnight, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif delivered a victory speech to his nation. This was on the day when 11 of their airbases got pounded by India.

There has been a studied silence from Prime Minister Modi. Don't know what he is thinking or what India's next plans are.

There has been no escalation on either side post midnight.

I'm disappointed with Prime Minister for agreeing to ceasefire yesterday. India instead of retaliating severely for ceasefire violation merely advised Pakistan to stick to ceasefire agreement. Whereas Pakistan is audaciously claiming victory and their Prime Minister is gleefully addressing the nation.

Adding salt to the injury, Pakistan is claiming it is India which is violating ceasefire agreement and they are showing restraint.

Pakistan is incapable of keeping quiet. They would do something to provoke India again. I hope Prime Minister then goes for a final kill.

India lost a golden opportunity twice yesterday. It should have kept the momentum going and should not have agreed to ceasefire. After violation of ceasefire by Pakistan, we should have applied full force on Pakistan instead of merely advising the rogue nation to stick to the agreement.

Expecting a better approach from Prime Minister.

I feel even if Pakistan wants to deescalate (which is not the case now), we should not stop till Pakistan is destroyed. This is a God given opportunity to India to permanently shut down the global terror factory of Pakistan.

Pakistan needs to be divided into pieces and their nuclear capabilities destroyed forever.

We've lived with this menace for nearly 80 years. Time has come to get rid of it.
