إلى أصدقائي السوريين في كل مكان من هذا العالم،

إلى كل الذين رسموا صورة مشرفة عن وطنهم رغم الغربة ورغم الجراح،

إلى كل الذين ظلوا يرسمون على وجوههم ابتساماتهم العريضة رغم الغصات المتتالية، 

إلى كل الذين كنا معهم وهم يدفنون أحباءهم في الخارج،

إلى كل الذين كنا معهم وهم يتزوجون وينجبون في المهجر،

إلى ذلك الشاب الذي هاجر ليخوض عباب البحر وعندما رأيته ثانية قال لي: لقد تذكرت نصيحتك بألا أفعل، فعدت!

إلى كل الذين كانوا ممنوعين من العودة إلى حيث نشأوا وترعرعوا،

إلى كل الذين سكنوا في غرفة صغيرة، وهم يملكون بيوتا فسيحة وبساتين،

إلى كل الذين كنا سنسافر سويا، ومنعوا حتى من تأشيرات الدخول،

إلى الذين أنفقوا كل ما ادخروه لشراء جواز سفر،

إلى كل الذين كانوا يقولون لنا بكل فخر: نحن من حلب دون أن نتذكر أنهم يستمدونه من شموخ قلعتهم،

ونحن من حماة، دون أن نعرف أن أول حب عاشوه كان عند نواعير عاصيها،

ونحن من دمشق، دون أن نعرف أنهم يقصدون أننا أبناء التاريخ مذ كان،

ونحن من ومن ومن ... نحن من سوريا.

إلى كل الذين قضوا قبل أن يصل التاريخ إلى هذه اللحظة، 

إلى كل الصرخات والآهات التي لم يسمعها أحد وسيظل صداها يتردد،

إلى كل القهر الذي لو اجتمع إعلام العالم أجمع ما غطى جزءا منه،

إلى روح حمزة الخطيب
