Crude has spiked sharply due to the West Asia war and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. OMCs were staring at heavy losses. The Modi Government just cut Special Additional Excise Duty by Rs 10 per litre (petrol from Rs 13 to Rs 3, diesel from Rs 10 to 0) to absorb the shock on government finances - so pump prices don’t explode for 140 crore Indians. That’s real relief and responsible crisis management.

Your lies crumble here:
1. Pre-2014 excise was around Rs 9.48 on petrol and Rs 3.56 on diesel - yes.

But the UPA left behind massive oil bonds worth over Rs 1.3 lakh crore (plus interest, total burden close to Rs 3 lakh crore) to hide deficits and fake subsidies.
The Modi Government repaid every paisa. Higher duties when crude was low helped clear that mess and fund massive infrastructure like highways. Not loot, basic fiscal responsibility.

2. The so-called 820% hike claims ignore the global Covid crisis and the dynamic use of duties - raised when crude crashed to build buffers, cut when needed. We have done multiple cuts before, including in 2021-22. Post-2014 price stability has been far better than the UPA-era daily volatility.

3. Revenue when crude was low was used for roads, infrastructure, and repaying your oil bonds - not wasted. Pre-2014, citizens faced more overall pain from wild price swings.

4. This is proactive response to an ongoing crisis, not something forced only by war. Meanwhile, your own Congress government in Himachal just passed a bill to hike petrol and diesel by up to Rs 5 per litre via a new cess for orphan and widow welfare.
Kerala (your backyard) still runs high VAT rates. States control VAT - cut it there too, or admit only the Centre is absorbing the hit for the common man.
