A simple trick for learning a new literature I was taught in my undergrad is the "snowball" technique. Here's how it works: start with one review or empirical finding in the topic you want to work on. Carefully read the works cited and pick 4-5 key references. Then read those.

We studied the roles of conduction delays, structural connectome, and regional dynamics in a Biophysical Network Model (BNM) of resting-state activity. Phase synchrony in the model was correlated at r=0.49 with the MEG connectome.
Noise correlations between similarly tuned neurons have long been known to limit encoding potential. We show in new work that the same kind of noise correlations can be beneficial for learning a readout. Very satisfying collaboration with @NassarLab and the twitterless Dan Scott!
1/6 New paper thread! We identified modules in inter-areal connectomes of phase-synchronization, with stereo-EEG (SEEG) recordings.
We found these modules to comprise anatomically contiguous regions that share functional roles in cognitive tasks.

A rather strange period of wins for me. Im humbled to be the recipient of the Autism Scholar Award by the Council of Ontario Universities. I will have to decline the award due to holding the CIHR but I wanted to share some lessons Iโve learned about applying for graduate awards๐
