Priya once noticed tomato and brinjal plants thriving in a garbage dump, with no one looking after them. It taught her the lesson her whole life's work now rests on: feed the soil, and the plant will protect itself. 🌱
→ She travelled from town to town rescuing vanishing crops, and built Seed Island, which now safeguards more than 1,000 heirloom varieties
→ She brought independent seed savers together to establish the Tamil Nadu Seed Collectors' Federation
→ With Save Soil, she trains farmers and home gardeners, and has shared seeds with more than 50,000 people
→ Her work has earned more than 100 agricultural awards, which she sees as proof that her methods work
She dreams of a seed bank in every village. Is there a plant from your grandmother's garden you'd love to grow again? 👇
🌾 My Regenerative Revolution

Soil
As the Air rids itself of extended summer fevers As chill begins to set in The green valley full of green leaf Preparing to turn into a gay Colourful Death. Painting the valley into a spectacular paintscape Most Colourful way to die Then to mull and mush to become the life generating Soil

Soil is one of Earth’s largest carbon stores.
A 12-year field experiment found that warming does not affect soil carbon the same way under all conditions. The strongest losses happened under drought, while wetter conditions changed the outcome significantly.
Researchers found that under dry conditions, warming accelerated microbial activity in ways that increased the breakdown of stored carbon. This suggests that rainfall plays a major role in determining whether warming leads to greater soil carbon loss.
If we want to understand how climate change affects soil, we cannot look at temperature alone. Water conditions matter too.
