@itsNVR2L8te Read the first post again. The WHOLE thing is a lecture on how this country used to give free advertising to Christianity ๐ but those darned wokies ๐ stood up against a single religion's indoctrination propaganda. Thus, Santa was erased, nay canceled, forever. ๐
@bobrocks951@Kaiju_Fanatic@AngelsEgg_anime If appreciate options in stream audio if for no other reason than that too often I hear about people griping that they can't hear squat on a stream, and having a toggle to do ANYTHING would help.
If Option B is only there for cinephiles but it helps some of folks too, danke!
@KevinTRod@worldofcrap Yeah, I'm of two minds about that. One side is, they hit an absolutely perfect climax and completed its thesis statement. The flip though is that, just as I was about to get up from my seat, the movie went, "OK, what else, what else, what else..." and gave me bonus movie!
@20secondstattoo@DoctorCriticMan@PunishedBenn Or Wonka, or The Color Purple or even freaking Wicked. (Seems baffling the idea somebody wouldn't know a Broadway Wiz of Oz takeoff is a musical, but also baffling them selling the movie without really using Defying Gravity.) It's a weird trend in trailers

@jchamberlin ...Wish they came with some game announcements too, though. Lots of studios out there could do PS1 / PS2 remasters and stock up the market...
@Kaiju_Fanatic@AngelsEgg_anime They typically include sound variants in the physical releases.
Only issue is, streamers offer none of the feature set of even 30year-old DVD. They could have stream stem options, but they prefer simplicity (and they cut commentary out too for logistical reasons.)
@frankcifaldi ...Of course, that's the job, to be clear about your likes and dislikes, but mags needed to commit so early (and saw so much pure crud) that a positive first impression might last a long while in leadtimes.
@frankcifaldi I think access might have been a factor. This was a USmade game, from a pub eager to oblige promos. Even Cool Spot, a more dashing game, but fewer accommodations due to a license. Journos would still need to like it, but it's tougher to dislike when you like everyone involved.
@DougDinsdale@ShaneWatch There were certainly things to hype up about Bubsy from a production quality standpoint, and that first level made such an impression visually. You'd think the stiff play and iffy jumping would change minds, but it's possible to delude yourself.
@quantinghome@TRR2468@jtimsuggs@quantinghome They did say such things about Empire. Contemporaneously, with the release of the film in 1980. Empire caused some kind iof schism in fandom in its time too, but we didn't have these easy communication centers at the time for sides to entrench themselves.
@larry_ahern@JimShull Make sense. I could see broad Hutt animation + slapstick doing a lot of talking for him; Hondo being human requires riders listen instead of visual context.
(& sure, Hondo is a lil questionable. It's a galaxy of scoundrels, which isnt always Disney but is fun. Han Solo: smuggler)
@larry_ahern@JimShull (Also, Hutts are generally bad guys, and the only well-known Hutt does evil deeds, which would be an unusual alignment in a Disney ride for you to "work for" a villain. )
@larry_ahern@JimShull Sounds like a little too much character disassociation though, to have both a character and a translator speak in the quick ride setup queue? The Hutt would mostly be mime and noise, but still, translating almost doubles the talk time and splits the character focus.
@JimShull Me waiting for somebody to post, "Oh, of course I have watched the Mr Toad movie short! How could anyone possibly understand that ride otherwise? "
@frankcifaldi@ZenoviaLLC@rusty_shackles Seeing a game salvage forgotten mechanics reminds me of the breakthrough days of WayForward. You'd the going through game stacks, "Eh, another cash-in licensed GBC game... hold the phone! Did they make this into a tribute to Metal Storm?!"
@frankcifaldi The TPS "Stop & Pop" genre probably came from this stalled-out end. The Cabal-like trackball shooters are the missing link leading to KillSwitch & Gears, yet aside from Dick Tracy & Wild Guns, that perspective was uncommon (maybe because of lack of analog?)
