The last time I visited my grandma in Epinmi that was 2024, it was rented out for ₦600. Only God knows how much it costs now. These communities are really suffering from poor electricity supply, and it’s sad that people have to pay extra just to keep their phones charged.

Same goes for people in Akoko LGA, Ondo State, especially those in Ipe, Epinmi, Oka, Isua, Ipesi, Ifira, Isemerin and many other communities. They also rely on similar thing called Mopo power bank, which people rent to charge their devices due to the poor electricity supply.

I just read about a device very popular in Ekiti called JAZA. A swappable power bank structured ecosystem. Apparently they haven’t had Electricity in Ijero Ekiti for almost 1 year. So There are several thousands of this Power Bank devices that are Popular over there. You rent them fully charged for N3,000 and use till its finished then Come back, swop it and Pay to rent another Pack. While I agree that This is a Genius idea. Helping to solve a Big Societal Problem. I honestly just wish our FG took Electricity Provision more Serious. The popularity of Such devices should not be an excuse for the continued complacency in the Power sector. 😤🤬
