@pwanyama What about the thousands of advocates employed by the National Government and county governments? Shouldn't this ruling also be viewed as an opportunity to strengthen in-house legal departments rather than relying heavily on external counsel at taxpayers' expense?
•Senate will appeal that Sh50 million Rigathi Gachagua judgment.
•It will hire a battery of lawyers who are Senators.
•Their legal fees will be more than Sh50 million... 🤔
Overheard some youngins discussing the Utumishi fire today and they said 16 casualties is "Al Shabab numbers" and that really put it into perspective fr.
The greatest mistake we made after the Finance Bill demonstrations was elevating some of the most foolish people far beyond their IQ capabilities. For instance, this woman raised her fist high in front of a police officer and suddenly became the face of liberation. Today, when Maraga was out on a genuine cause against femicide, she's all over the place cursing the old man for standing against the vice.
It turns out that raising a fist is much easier than raising the level of public discourse. Some people were mistaken for revolutionaries when they were merely well-positioned for a photo opportunity. The camera crowned them heroes. 😏
Our children are being stolen. Between Jan 2025–Mar 2026, Kenya recorded 10,581 child protection cases,1,952 abductions, 173 trafficking cases. That is 23 children a day.
Last week in Githurai, a 2-year-old was kidnapped by a teenager sent to steal a child for a phone. In Juja, residents shut down the Thika Superhighway after 4 children vanished in two weeks. In Central Kenya, 372 violence-against-children incidents in under a year. This is a national emergency.
The Penal Code provides for life imprisonment for kidnappers. I want to see DCI and DPP match that seriousness with urgent investigations and full prosecutions, not just press releases.
To every Kenyan, watch the children around you. Speak up and report because if we do not protect our children, we have failed at the most fundamental duty of a society. Our children are not a footnote. They are our future.
I want to believe Advocate Linda is was acting strictly on instructions but she failed to execute her counselor mandate. Advocates are counselors-we advise our clients and dont just become mouth pieces. Whatever the case, Linda failed her client Imudia terribly
The conduct of Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu on 25 March 2026, while a Grade 10 student was lawfully observing Senate proceedings under the School Voluntary Service Scheme, represents a profound failure of duty by a State Officer.
Under Article 53(1)(d) of the Constitution of Kenya, every child has an inalienable right to be protected from all forms of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The Children Act, 2021 reinforces this by mandating that the best interests of the child shall be paramount in every matter concerning them.
By publicly sexualizing a minor ,implying that the young learner’s presence required clarification on “which service” she was offering the Senate and referencing the excitement of a male Senator ,Senator Nyamu crossed a bright legal and ethical line. Such remarks do not constitute mere poor taste or “banter.” They constitute objectification of a child, potential psychological exploitation, and a direct assault on the minor’s dignity.
As a person holding public office, the Senator was bound by Article 73(1) to exercise authority with integrity, accountability, and respect for the rule of law. Instead, her words exposed a vulnerable learner to humiliation, possible reputational harm, and lasting emotional trauma. This is not protected speech. It is conduct that a reasonable public officer, let alone one sworn to uphold the Constitution, must know would cause foreseeable harm to a child. The Senate’s Standing Orders on decorum and the Leadership and Integrity Act exist precisely to prevent such abuse of office.
I offer my unreserved and heartfelt apology to the family of the young student and to the child herself for the distress, embarrassment, and potential long-term harm these remarks have caused you. No parent should ever have to explain to their daughter why a Senator turned her innocent educational visit into a spectacle of sexual innuendo. The harm inflicted was unnecessary, avoidable, and contrary to every principle of justice and decency.
The Judicial Service Commission is turning judicial interviews into a cramming contest.Memorizing case law is not a sign of intelligence or a good judgement.
Judges have researchers. What matters is reasoning not recitation.
We’re appointing the best crammers.
When a demand letter or court process makes it to the public, there's something that feels wrong about colleagues publicly poking holes in it and saying things like: "This case will crumble", "This case cannot go anywhere".
As innocent as such comments appear, there's an unspoken and maybe unintended message that they pass to the public. A message that the lawyer who drafted such doesn't know his onions or that the process is ill-advised.
Apart from the fact that such moves hastily puts a question mark on the competence of such colleagues, it is also an indictment on those making such comments. It isn't a mark of professional courtesy or respect. In addition, there are ways we have been taught not to comment on pending matters.
I feel that comments of that nature should go behind the scenes between colleagues and not publicly.
Young lawyers, don't be so angry and bitter in those Demand Notices/Notices to sue, please.
Be kind, it might give you resolve issues very fast and even you get some money paid to you by the other party
What is the anger and arrogance for ?
Acting on instructions of the LSK, I was honoured to work alongside my friend and mentor, Chumo Kibet, on this Constitutional Petition. A major win for environmental justice, the rule of law, and the protection of our public forests. 🌳⚖️

The ELC Milimani has quashed the unlawful Special Use & Environment Impact licenses issued to Karura Golf Range Ltd for developments of a Golf course and Restaurant inside the protected Ngong Road Forest.
A win for environmental constitutionalism.
