Chronic hepatitis B can "skip" this step, going directly from chronic infection to HCC.
Why the difference?
STUDY HARD. No matter if it seems impossible. No matter if it takes time. Wake up early and start studying for your future. Just remember that the feeling of success is the best feeling in the world.
It is a common misconception in medicine that critical thinking abilities occur independently of memorizing and retaining large amounts of information.
A large part of critical thinking involves detailed comparison between the situation at hand and what is expected.
Obviously, you have to have semantics ie information about the concerned topic over a wide range of normal and abnormal.
The rarer the topic is, the lesser the chance that you have seen it --> you cannot wing it with experience.
So you have to read about it.
This proves that to practise medicine properly, a huge amount of background information needs to be learnt and retained so well that you can manipulate it at will.
AI or even the humble Google search can help you with this, but ultimately you have to rely on your own semantics.
The practice of medicine requires extensive reading.
Don't let pop culture psychologists from the 'mechanical' specialties tell you otherwise.
