After reading all your birthday greetings, I just sat and took it all in. It’s difficult to communicate what exactly that felt like, but it isn’t difficult to say what it means to me. Connection, community, overwhelming kindness. What a birthday gift. Thank you. Xxxxxx
I’m sure Nigel Farage shouldn’t have been leaked against by the bank boss but the hypocrisy of Govt ministers & others is breathtaking
The last time Govt ministers lost their jobs over leaking, one was reappointed six days later and the other was given a knighthood
Baroness Owen & Lord Kempsell who have less than a decade work experience between them but who now have jobs for life making laws because Boris Johnson said so, have made the case for abolition of the House of Lords clearer than I could
Suella Braverman's dream of sending asylum seekers to Rwanda is dead.
Now let's fight for the dreams of refugees by helping them rebuild their lives in dignity, safety and peace.
Boris Johnson deliberately, knowingly & recklessly misled the Commons according to the Privileges Committee Inquiry that HE set up
Boris Johnson pressed Sunak to help secure a knighthood for his father Stanley during a face-to-face meeting
Good riddance

How do we tell the story of Mohammad al-Tamimi, a two-year old child shot in the head by Israeli soldiers? - @MariamBarghouti

On his birthday, remembering Bernie Casey, who played Lt. Commander Calvin Hudson in the 2-part #StarTrekDS9 episode "The Maquis." He took the role for the opportunity to work with Avery Brooks.

I’ve been asked to write about Philip Schofield by a national newspaper
If Schofield has committed a crime then it’s a police matter
He is not a person “in power” whom we need to hold to account
I’ve seen people targeted in a “pile on” who have harmed themselves
it’s a No from me
In isolation this may not seem that important or even that surprising. But what does it tell us about the way lobbyists operate when they are so successful in not only getting displays removed but also spinning the story as “patient complaints”?
So it appears clear that @ChelwestFT removed art designed by children in occupied Gaza not due to patient complaints as initially reported but at the behest of a powerful political lobbying group who according to their own website “support Israel using their legal skills”.
However, despite the lack of an official reply, I have had it confirmed to me by a source at @ChelwestFT that they received ZERO complaints from patients about the artwork. The ONLY complaint came from UKLFI.
I decided to put in a Freedom of Information request to the hospital involved to ask for a copy of any complaints made by patients about the artwork. That was three months ago. I’ve yet to receive a reply despite the statutory response time being 20 days.
A Hospital spokesperson at the time said: “patients found (the artwork) offensive”. But no patients were quoted, even anonymously. The only quotes are from UK Lawyers for Israel, a pro-Israel lobbying group, which has been accused of using “lawfare” to silence Palestinian voices.
Thread: It was reported in February that Chelsea and Westminster Hospital took down a display of decorative plates designed by children in Gaza after complaints by “Jewish patients”. I’ve looked into this.

And what does it tell us about the current environment in the UK regarding speaking about Palestine when art by children is not safe from being attacked and hastily removed by NHS hospitals due to such political pressure? It’s time for a proper sensible discussion about this.
