@m4zas24@getPlasticity freemium and saas+subscription is a very natural model. we are a small company and for now only offer perpetual, offline licenses. it is rare to see a free tier for these kinds of licenses because of piracy, support request costs, etc
@_arutkowski@iamthatlolu1 Hopefully lolu can borrow ideas from plasticity and stop slavishly copying them. He needs this feedback for his own good. Adrian you are genuinely an idiot so have a nice day
@_arutkowski@iamthatlolu1 Dude you are defending copying our music in marketing videos? Give me a break. Yes when plasticity was open source I would have never dared to do this level of plagiarism. Seriously unethical behavior.
Plasticity gives you the freedom to model without forcing a workflow.
Push and pull surfaces, sketch loosely or dimension precisely, combine direct modeling with surfacing, and move through ideas without breaking momentum, or the bank.

@_arutkowski@iamthatlolu1 come on man. the text, layout and buttons in the dialog are copied literally word for word copied from plasticity, including our misspellings. there are borrowing ideas and there is plagiarism. not complicated.
@iamthatlolu1 ok but you really shouldn't copy so closely. We use "diff" because I couldn't get "difference" to fit in our narrow dialog and my icon guy was too busy to make icons. Find your own design language - that is the way to succeed. Good luck.
The same approach works for trimmed surfaces since the fragment shader uses interpolated UVs to evaluate the Bezier normal. The extra compute and VRAM cost is modest - certainly smaller than a denser mesh of equivalent quality. Hopefully Iโll have time to write this up soon.
Something Iโve been researching for a bit: smoother CAD body shading without generating expensive, dense meshes.
For Bezier surfaces, the fragment shader can evaluate the surface normal analytically instead of using interpolated mesh normals. So even a coarse mesh can have clean highlights.
Blog post before merge would have been marginally better comms. however there was no way to avoid becoming the main character on twitter because of this change. too many hot button issues (ai, manual memory management, zig vs rust, etc.). I'm impressed with your courage - I hope it works out.
