ICYMI: Friends rally to save beloved singer after brutal attack
Shock and heartbreak have gripped friends and fans of Koketso Lumko Langa after the beloved vocalist and makeup artist was brutally stabbed just days after celebrating his 29th birthday.
Known for his rich, soulful voice on Buhlebendalo’s #FamBand and his proud presence in the Mzansi Gay Choir, Koketso has long been a light in his community — not just through music, but through his artistry as the force behind Makeup by Lumko Langa.
Now, that same community is fighting to help him heal after a violent attack that has left many shaken and outraged.
The horror unfolded on Friday, 20 March 2026, when Koketso was allegedly attacked by a man known to him as Karabo. The incident, believed to be a homophobic attack, has sparked anger and calls for justice across social circles and online platforms. Friends say the vibrant performer, known for uplifting others with his voice and talent, is now facing a long road to recovery — physically, emotionally, and financially. Medical bills are mounting, and the trauma of the attack has left deep scars.
“He didn’t deserve this. No one does,” said a close friend.
“Koketso has always been about love, expression, and community. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.”
In response, friends and supporters have launched a heartfelt campaign to raise funds for his medical care, legal support, and recovery journey. From small donations to messages of encouragement, the movement is growing as more people rally behind him.
Supporters are also demanding swift action from authorities, insisting that justice must be served and that violence against LGBTQ+ individuals cannot continue unchecked.
Friends have also organised a benefit concert on 9 May, at Untitled Basement to raise funds for his medical care,
The call is simple but urgent: help Koketso regain his smile, his confidence, and his sense of safety. Every contribution — no matter how small — is a step toward healing. As the hashtag #JusticeForKoketso gains momentum, one thing is clear: Koketso is not alone. His community is standing strong, in hope, love, and the fight for justice.

Hey X fam❤
My name is Bonolo Motsoahole from the Vaal . I started Sub'Awel in 2021 as a measure of me trying to beat unemployment and fulfilling a life long dream of being a 'business owner'.
Unfortunately due to economical and personal reasons I had to shut down.
