The launch of Season A 2027 at COPRORIKI Cooperative in Kabamba was a powerful reminder that a successful farming season begins with early preparation, shared responsibility, and collective action.

Together with our field Agronomists, local leaders, RAB representatives, and other partners, we joined farmers on the ground to plant rice on a 5-are demonstration plot—turning plans and technical discussions into practical action.

The engagement also highlighted key priorities for the season: rebuilding wetland soil fertility through the use of organic manure, improving farmers’ access to fertilizers, and ensuring timely availability of water for irrigation.
When farmers, extension teams, local leaders, and partners work together, we can address challenges early and create the conditions for better productivity.
Season A 2027 starts with preparation. Together, we are laying the foundation for a productive and resilient season. 🌱🌾

Good progress of the Season C (dry season) in our partner farmer cooperatives.
This season is characterized by horticultural crops and irrigated schemes farming systems for a period of 3-4months starting late May until the start of the season A in September.

Yesterday, the @MastercardFdn and @AGRA_Africa conducted a field visit to the #YEFFA Program under YEAN interventions in @NyagatareDistr visiting Ms. Mushimiyimana Peline’s agribusiness. The team experienced her journey from subsistence farming to market-oriented horticulture through #YEFFA support.

Ms. Peline expanded from 0.2 to 1 hectare of land, shifted to high-value crops, and reinvested her income into a more Climate Smart Agriculture.

Yesterday, YEAN participated in the Validation Workshop for the Q3 2026 Progress Report on the Operation and Management of Irrigation Schemes Project (OMIS) with @RwandaAgriBoard at Rubirizi Mulindi Station, to validate and review progress and achievements.

Across Lot 3 (@Kamonyi , @Muhangadis , and @RuhangoDistrict ), in Q3 YEAN supported 14 irrigated schemes covering 1,179 hectares and reached 10,517 farmers through 17 cooperatives and 12 Irrigation Water User Organizations. Key achievements included 95% adoption of good agricultural practices, establishment of 16 Farmer Field Schools, engagement of over 8,510 farmers in infrastructure maintenance, and facilitation of 5 market linkage agreements.

For Season A 2026 production, maize yield in Ruboroga irritated scheme (Kamonyi) reached 9.2 MT/Ha, rice yield in Base 1&2 scheme (Ruhango) reached 6.4 MT/ha, and in Season B climbing beans yield in Gikoro scheme 2.8 tons/ha.
