Life update:
Retired from full-time teaching, moved to Florida. I am going to ‘slow down’ and see what consulting, design and adjudication looks like. Some other projects coming as well, more on that later. Right now, rest, reading, resumes…
I don’t X much, but this caught me:
"You can go to hell without moving an inch, just focus on what you lack.
You can taste heaven without leaving earth, just rejoice in what you have."
- James Clear
Thanks to an old friend for that one.
@drdavegerhart 2. The perception that percussionists are ‘specialists’ usually mallet percussionists or ‘drummers’. Even honor bands separate the kids in the audition process.
@drdavegerhart Two things IMO:
1. Lack of curriculum in directors/ kids hands keeping percussionists reading on mallets/snare/timpani/accessories at similar or same standard as other instrumentalists. (There is one I know for sure that exists)
