Today the SC effectively struck down affirmative action. Hear from NLC CEO Clare Bresnahan-English (NLC Washington DC 2012) and alums Rakim Brooks (NLC New York City 2019) and Maria Town (NLC Washington DC 2014) on how our movement for educational equity will not be stopped.
This weekend at @nlcswo I had the honor of presenting my research on how local government can work to increase Black home ownership and close the racial wealth gap. Shout to all of our local housing advocates paving the way.

Special thanks to @IINCincy for sharing their space at the Cincinnati Fire Museum with us this month! Fun fact: Cincinnati was the first in the nation to have a fully paid, professional fire department!
Understanding Our People & Our Power
This weekend, the @NLC SW Ohio Fellows learned the important truth that for long-lasting change, we must intentionally interrogate & disrupt current systems of power and oppression.
Thank you to our incredible local speakers and trainers @meekaowens1, Aharon Brown, @anthonybele and Geoffrey Wolf and our National trainer & @NLC_Atlanta alum @CandaceStanciel for sharing their knowledge with the @nlcswo fam this weekend.
I had great weekend with my @nlcswo family. We had solid discussion and training on challenging oppressive systems and investing in our communities. I also appreciated the much needed conversation on prioritizing mental health and rest.
Today is the start of Ramadan, beginning a holy month of observance for over 1.9 billion Muslims across the world. Ramadan is a 30 day fast that begins from dawn to sunset, where Muslims abstain from specific activities, including no food or water, and increase their faith
10/10 @nlcswo this weekend. I enjoyed hearing from union leaders, fundraising experts, and campaign strategists. Learning how to implement change, challenge oppressive systems, and develop policies that improve communities has been extremely valuable to me.
Teaching a fundraising 101 class this morning in Dayton was, as expected, awesome.
That’s what happens when you join @nlcswo - you get to do awesome stuff with your friends and learn some hugely important skills along the way. 🤟
