Teachers deserve more recognition, more praise, more thanks, more $! We thought they were ‘just’ educating our kids, but as it turns out they are also responsible for keeping the economy going.
I truly don't think enough can be said about the work teachers have done over the past several months. Some teaching online *and* in person. Making lesson plans for both. Some caring for their own children and relatives while they teach. They deserve both praise and better pay.
The most depressing part about being an historian who studies plague (among other things) during a pandemic is watching people react to deadly disease outbreaks almost exactly the same way 16th & 17th century Europeans did.

A great reminder to think about the meaning of words. If a student struggles with math we teach them numbers; reading we teach words; behaviors - we need to teach them appropriate actions.
