Update Preview: Room Locking 🔒

We’ve been fixing up room locking for the upcoming updates!
Soon, owners will be able to set passwords on rooms they control.
Visitors will need to enter the correct password before gaining access.
Once authenticated, users stay verified until a new password is set.
This gives owners a super simple way to limit access, protect content, and lock down their spaces whenever they want.

Hey everyone — quick update on what’s been happening behind the scenes and what’s coming next.

The account system is now fully implemented. There were some hiccups with how anonymous sessions interacted with the new structure, but those have all been resolved. With that foundation in place, I can now shift focus to pushing out more widgets.

As mentioned in the video, I’ll be working on touching up profiles today, and then over the weekend I’ll aim to ship 4–5 new widgets in time for Monday’s community Spaces. The goal is to also roll out the first version of room monetization by then.

I've been experimenting with different widget ideas and thinking through how to offer more customization options — there’s a lot more to come on that front. The plan still stands: holding a base amount of $LOFT gives you site-wide premium access, and room owners will be able to charge an entry fee to unlock access for others.

Tonight’s update will include the new account system, and tomorrow I’ll be pushing profile improvements and some new widgets.

Just pushed an update for profiles — everything should be running smoothly now, but let me know if you run into any issues.

I also fixed a bug where the PNLGrabber widget wasn’t appearing properly. On top of that, I’ve added a brand new widget: Token Relay.

The idea behind Token Relay is simple — sometimes you come across a token you want your room to check out instantly. When a user drops a token address into Token Relay, anyone in the room with auto-open enabled will have it automatically pulled up in Photon (more platform support coming soon).

More widgets are on the way in the next few days, and I’ll also be rolling out the monetization tools in time for Monday’s community Spaces.

One quick add-on — creating new widgets is actually the easy part. What made this update take a bit longer was needing to essentially rewrite the foundation.

Initially, I tried to keep parts of the original session handling in place, but that ended up clashing with how the new account system worked, causing a bit of a bottleneck. Now that we’ve moved past that, things should speed up again.

Once I finish polishing up profiles to make them a bit more presentable, I’ll get back to pushing out useful widgets — just like we did in the early days after launch.
