I've long said that Medicare for All would deliver the highest quality, most cost-effective health care. If we're serious about unrigging our economy, tackling corporate greed within our health care system is a good place to start.

After 37 years as a solid American, I've left the U.S. My wife and I have been living in her home town of Melbourne, Australia since January, shortly before our baby was born.
We'd always talked about doing it someday, but something happened last year that forced our hand. 1/ 🧵
I'm doing what’s always worked in our country:
Giving people a fair shot. Leaving no one behind. And growing the economy from the middle out and bottom up.
Because when we do that, we all do well.
On my watch, instead of paying up to $400 a month for insulin, seniors on Medicare only have to pay $35.
I won’t stop fighting until we cap this cost for every single American.
When Mississippi expands Medicaid to the 138% FPL, the sky won’t fall just like it didn’t fall in 40 other states (including half that voted for Trump).
Poor people won’t be getting a check in their mailbox.
They’ll get blood pressure medication, cancer treatment, preventative care to avoid heart attacks, and life saving surgery when necessary.
Hospitals will get paid for the work Ronald Reagan’s EMTALA requires them to do.
Hospital employees will have much needed support and raises.
$1 Billion will be infused into our states economy each year.
I’m a conservative, and I stand with the majority that doesn’t hate poor people or math.

For working families with small children, my budget guarantees affordable, quality child care.
Most families will pay less than $10 a day per child, saving millions of folks as much as $7,000 a year.
That’s a lot of breathing room for young families who need it most.
@UROCKlive1@DebbieforFL Medicare fraud in FL and stolen TANF funds supposed to help single moms & other needy families in MS, stolen by a bunch of rich Republicans. Nothing new for the party of "Christian" values. I've been raised on the "family values" political scam and I'm sick of all of them.
@clarabatess@MO_Independent Surprised they're not stealing funds from TNAF likeTate R, Phil B. & Brett Favre in MS (my home state). Or like AG Lynn Finch trying to cover it up. Or young man Shad White, State Auditor immersed in culture wars as he's being sued by said AG for trying to collect what was stolen
@runningatnight@JoJoFromJerz@BillKristol Just one thing, and you can duke it out about the rest with the Internet:
Protecting "life" of the mother is not the same as protecting "health" of the mother.

You are indeed wrong.
As a college educated suburban woman, I can tell you that while the college campus chaos concerns me, and I emphatically implore everyone to speak out against antisemitism and Islamophobia, that issue is not what I am going to have at the top of my mind when I go to cast my vote in November.
You see, my daughter has fewer rights than I did at her age.
And a war is being waged to strip all of us of all of our fundamental human rights as we speak.
And that makes me a single issue voter at this moment in time.
I am voting to protect and preserve democracy.
What I will be thinking about when I vote is that a 10 year old girl can be forced to carry her rapist’s baby to term.
That a woman with sepsis can be left to die in a parking lot because the hospital will not treat her.
That a doctor can be imprisoned for life for performing an abortion on a woman who has been raped, while the rapist himself spends only 2 years in jail.
That a woman can face criminal charges FOR MISCARRYING.
That is what I’ll be thinking about.
And I know for a fact that I am not alone. There is far too much at stake in this election for any of us to let the current unrest on college campuses dissuade us from voting blue up and down the ballot.
If we get this wrong, protests will cease to exist because democracy will cease to exist. And the rights we have left, will be stripped away from us all.
And this college educated suburban woman refuses to let that happen.
And I am sure as shit not the only one who feels that way.
A Mississippi health advocate carries 2 heavy burdens:
1. The difficulty of convincing people that are not poor that Mississippi is poor.
2. The difficulty of convincing people that are not experiencing a health crisis that Mississippi is experiencing a health crisis.
Mississippi is poor - as a state and as a people. We are wholly supported by taxpayers of other states, and we have the highest poverty rate in the country.
Mississippi is in a health crisis. We are last in nearly every health metric, last in life expectancy, and our hospitals are all struggling to keep their doors open.
I pray that our leadership will go back to the drawing board and do some real work on healthcare in the next year.

Well, that does it. The derailment of the first, real Medicaid expansion negotiations due to pettiness and the need-to win, regardless of the lack of care for working poor people is the last straw for me. The last two weeks have shown us clearly that to #saveourstate, we had better get to work. I’m all in.
This morning, I am committing to donate $50,000 on Monday to establish the Save our State Political Action Committee, “SOS PAC.” Starting this summer, SOS PAC will be engaging citizens all across Mississippi in every type of races for local and state office in Mississippi.
Watch for SOS PAC to be investing in races from Walnut on the TN line to Waveland on the beautiful coast. The SOS PAC board share common values and principles centered on respect for democracy, common sense government, increase in healthcare access, full Medicaid expansion, elimination of the grocery tax, opposition to injustice/racism/hate, restoration of the ballot initiative process, increases in natural resource conservation, environmental stewardship, American energy independence, reduction in the stigmatism of and increased support for recovery from alcohol and drug abuse, increase mental health access/services and support for the advancement of programs to assist the Autism community and families. That’s just to name a few of the issues we will be interested in until we launch the website.
As my wife, Katelyn, said early the next morning after we lost the Governor’s race, we may have been a few votes short, but we aren’t quitting. Too many of you believed in our fight for us to now abandon you. So buckle up! Katelyn and I have rested up, let the wounds of defeat heal, spent some quality time with the man upstairs, mended some fences with folks and are ready stand with you to #saveourstate. Stay tuned!

"Mississippi has delayed far too long," Retired Maj. Gen. Augustus Collins, former head of the state National Guard, wrote the lieutenant governor on Medicaid expansion.

@sevenkenton@brandoncjones Cuba isn't in this bill and isn't the issue. Stay on the subject. Or we could all follow yours & Marjorie Taylor Greene's advice & wait for Putin to attack Finland, a NATO ally, and send our sons & daughters to get killed. Like that better?
@sevenkenton@brandoncjones Autocorrect screw up: The former president has already said he would tell Putin to, "Do whatever the hell you want." That is definitely the wrong side of history to be on.
@sevenkenton@brandoncjones And 4) Since the former president told his supporters at a rally he would tell NATO countries the US would not support them, & he would tell Putin to, "do whatever the y'all you want." I think it explains the need to nip this in the bud, together with put democratic allies.
