The Fabelmans is really such a gift of a movie. You watch that and not only do you get one of the best of this decade but you watch any Spielberg movie after and you love it a little more knowing where it all comes from.
People were saying this exact same thing about her 20 years ago, when she was 47. She didn’t listen then, and she’s not going to do so now. I don’t think you really know who you’re a fan of.
Express yourself, don’t repress yourself, as she says.
Every single person who is being actively ageist towards her right now is only making her impact stronger because in 20 years when your favs are in their 60s Madonna will be credited once again for breaking down barriers and expectations placed on aging women. You’re all welcome
DISCLOSURE DAY finds the great Steven Spielberg no longer asking whether we’re alone in the universe, but how humanity would respond if we finally learned the answer. The result is a thrilling sci-fi blockbuster that reaffirms Spielberg’s unmatched command of storytelling and his ability to evoke a childlike sense of wonder in all of us. Driven by a spirited pace, exceptional sound design, and John Williams’ score, the film acts as a high-stakes chase thriller for most of its runtime right from the very beginning. The ensemble is very good with a few standout performances from Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo, but Emily Blunt is utterly spectacular, guiding us through a wide display of emotions with a consistently surprising performance that ranks among her very best. While David Koepp’s script leaves a few questions unanswered and other details a little vague, the film’s captivating storytelling, masterful craftsmanship, and inspiring belief in the pursuit of truth, whether in the face of government secrecy, divine uncertainty, or impending Armageddon, adds up to the kind of awe-inspiring experience we go to the movies for.
