@BMJ_EBM@AdeAdamson@KatyJLBell@DellMedSchool@SydneySPH @DellMedCPC So, what could be done differently? Not to diagnose melanoma in situ and not to exise it and play gamble? We admit MIS diagnosis is not life threatening, everyone knows.
@BMJ_EBM@EmmaGrundtvig I wonder if data presented reflect a. invasive vs non-invasive melanoma b. thickness of invasive melanoma as the strongest predictors of outcome. If patient presents with the pigmented lesion we have to diagnose it by applying current criteria.
@karamchandanij @CAPACP Hi Jason, let me know if I could be of any help. I am now at IARC /WHO in Lyon. Perhaps we can design a course or sumposium for the next CAPACP convention. Best wishes
@dnunan79 minimum ?.a choice of: contribution to design, data collection and study execution, analysis, drafting and /or substantial scientific editing..no different to the formal authroship rules. Pure technical/spell check would be insufficient, but good for kind acknowledgement !
@LeQuesneLab @xolisajane Agree. I saw myself in emerge, OR, or ..in the autopsy suite. I still loved to talk to live patients thought, despite all these years in path, but not in the wards...
@oke_jason Jason, one inevitably hit death classification bias issue/ competing mortality causes, as recent CNN case of an advanced cancer pt who officially died of COVID, being fully vaccinated.
@BareReality News from Canada: 'If you have not received your COVID-19 vaccine before Oct. 26, 2021, You will not be permitted to work, on-site or remotely; You will be placed on unpaid leave, and/or see a pause to your contract, education or on-site research You will not be able to use.etc"
@dnunan79 YES The test should resolve or shift diagnostic uncertainty. No uncertainty=no tests. We are now in a muddy world of screening ..for risk factors. Tests for risk, risks for tests? We are facing a self-reference loop fallacy, mathematicians say.
@mypathologistmd @berthagarcia5@virchow@sholzberg@VirginiaWalley Absolutely overdue..many recent problems stemmed from a lack of understanding of medical testing process as a whole and over-reliance on expectation of "perfect test performance (unknown to medicine)".
