Yesterday we put our plexiglass to good use to learn punctuating quotations! Plexiglass, expos, and play-doh... what more do we need?? #nmbmchiefs#relentless
Nothing like a fun crossword puzzle to get to know each other! I had students submit fun facts about themselves and we learned so much!
Some favorites:
1. One student has three freckles on her right eye.
2. One is terrified of butterflies.
3. One student has never had soda!
I've recently run into a problem where I am in need of more bookshelves because I have too many books... like almost 100 too many to fit on my shelves (bought 45 last weekend). I have… https://t.co/tAVHyuIRI8

@AyersGretchen For this reason, it is necessary that the unity of the piece be clear and the meaning be relevant and purposeful to represent the overall topic (just as with their papers).
They will not be there to tell us they way they want their paper to be interpreted, so they must be clear.
Today we used Play-Doh to learn about revisions, meaning, and audience to get ready for our argumentative papers! The kids loved it! #Relentless#nmbmchiefs
@AyersGretchen Finally, we allowed them to discuss the meaning and unity of their piece. It was necessary for them to recognize that meaning is in the eye of the beholder and, in comparison, the meaning of their paper will be up to the interpretation of the reader.

@AyersGretchen We distinguished between the two parts of a writer--the creator and the critic. We allowed them to draft multiple drafts of a classroom logo (the creator in the prewriting/prescultping phase). Then we tasked them with creating a first draft of the final product.
When I tell you these kids are getting into book talks, I mean they're really getting into book talks! 😂 After this amazing introduction, we learned about Laura Hillenbrand's Unbroken. #nmbmchiefs#Relentless @Lindsey_EdWrite @LapierJames
Implementing daily book talks into classes has been a game changer. The number of my books that have already been signed out is amazing! I love hearing the books students are excited about. #nmbmchiefs#relentless@LapierJames @Lindsey_EdWrite
HUMAN BINGO... VOLUME UP!
Making class fun shouldn’t be rocket science or spending hrs on Pinterest.
Putting a twist on something small and making learning just a little different, is all part of captivating our students!
