@CalTwomey When assistant coaches and specialists walk away its a concern. Regardless of alliances or perceived competence it doesnt reflect well on what they must be observing.
@georgieparker Hirds a smart man...playing the emotional card is genius. On pure coaching terms he is middle of the pack....but tugging at the heartstrings of long suffering supporters and club officials and leveraging media contacts is his best chance.
@1116sen@SENBreakfast Hinkley coached in the fishbowl of Adelaide for 13 years...reckon he has the mental fortitude to deal with Essendon...and he wouldn't be worried for 1 second about going up against Hird.
The issue is the club not Hird.
@ScooterMcNeice All eyes on the board now. Must be clinical and honest in its assessment of deficiencies and in turn needs.
A Longmire for example will quickly assess whether the board is capable of providing the structure to support...he wont enter a program run by amateurs.
@1116sen@SENBreakfast This has nothing to do with whether they think they cant beat Hird from a coaching perspective, it has everything to do with the club and whether it is a level playing field.
@RalphyHeraldSun@FOXFOOTY The issue in this instance was with the umpires, how he was given the all clear by the field umpire defies logic.
In the absence of referral to the ARC the time pressure sealed the incompetence.
@SENBreakfast@PullmanMelb Kingys comments are interesting, you would normally expect him to be critical of a compromised process but his pragmatic approach suggests he might know something, maybe an old premiership team mate has given him some insight π
@7AFL Club needed to do 3 things in that post CEO, Noble, Recruiter and JHF exits period...
lock down its core talent, improve its player development and build stability off field at board, exec and coaching levels ..all achieved and the base is there now.
@petryan Yes the debate is not the rule but the interpretation. As some have suggested that moving off did not improve the angle is irrelevant.
If he moved its play on, if he didnt and it was called then that's an umpire error.
@petryan If a player disposes of the ball other than a direct line over the mark then the field umpire calls play on. Whilst disposal technically is the kick not the run up id imagine the "spirit" of the rule includes the run up.
@RalphyHeraldSun Reckon hes clarkos favourite also.
He endears himself not only for his football but his quirky individual almost eccentric style.
The follow me dependable sort of bloke who you want beside you in the trenches...
@petryan Who would know. This is where supporters place faith in the club compiling a panel with sufficient expertise to interrogate the requisite coaching skills and mental fortitude.
Interesting to see how they approach the "process".
