@PossessionComic@gaemonspalehair ah i see what you mean. i'm not prepared to see whatever remains of cat go through yet more tragedy either ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
@DataDrivenEm0@itslegitnow@JeremiahDJohns i feel that even if your writing can tread into more problematic territory you can make more of an argument for your characters w/ this principle. e.g. tyrion literally becomed a scheming rapist POS which may feel gross, but we follow his journey there & get why it's come to this
@Alameda2988@themeasuredtake aiding israel & then be *shocked* that "daddy trump" is too stupid to play ball.
like even in an american context it doesn't really make sense to use it as a litmus test bc it doesn't reveal some sort of party wide pro-russia agenda with dems, so it isn't top priority imo.
@Alameda2988@themeasuredtake i mean it is true that the vast majority does. i think it just brushes up against leftist suspicion of NATO & europe's own history & complicity with colonialism, esp. when EU nations act as vassal states to the US. so it's just kinda hypocritical to see leaders actively
@gaemonspalehair this is why i feel an AOSIAF adaptation kinda needs some degree of narration/inner monologue to really work. i get why some feel it's "cheating" in a visual medium but it just adds another level to see the real thoughts vs the mask play out.
@LovesSardine@JJ0414831582803@JeremiahDJohns she actually has quite a "feminine" personality but bc of her appearance she never fit in no matter how hard she tried. so she adapted & found skill in swordsmanship. the point is that people aren't happy w/ her either way so she may as well follow her own path.
@VigilanteLib@krainboltgreene decommodification more than i used to.
even the founding fathers believed democracy can only work if people are educated. w/ worsening literacy rates, slashes to public funding, & billionaire captured media, those are ingredients for oblivion.
sorry for the yap /fin
@VigilanteLib@krainboltgreene i want institutions that are hard to capture, robust enforcement, anti-monopoly, etc.
i used to be more hopeful this could be sustained within liberal capitalism, but the weakness of liberal politicians in fighting for LIBERALISM, not socialism, has me lookin at
@VigilanteLib@krainboltgreene sure, but i question seeing one type of coercion as โnecessaryโ & the other as an unthinkable violation. decommodification is radical & hard to implement, but private ownership shouldn't outrank essentials either. at least, more radical transformation has to be the north star imo
@VigilanteLib@krainboltgreene satanic child rapists every 4 years is fucking untenable man.
irt mixed systems decarbonizing, political coordination prolly works better when markets arent just left to self-regulate.
i could settle for robust socdem but i need libs to fight for that w/ the spirit of mao.
@VigilanteLib@krainboltgreene they have a vested interest in eroding institutional strength. FDR was a smart capitalist bc he got this. you literally need an FDR-style leadership forever to prevent the erosion. like as a baseline.
this seesawing back & forth between sensible technocratic bureaucrats and-
@VigilanteLib@krainboltgreene irt china especially i'd argue their successes are partially due to heavy state planning. funniest example is when some dude refused to move for a rail project & they literally just went "ok" and build AROUND his house lmao. i admire the passive aggression for NIMBYs.
@VigilanteLib@krainboltgreene there are strong incentives to externalize costs, defend what is "ours" (monarchic mfers like trump believe they've earned it lol), & block or sabotage policy. we REALLY need to rein these fuckers in ruthlessly, bc those most invested in "business as usual" are killing us.
