The Holy Relics of the Buddha’s two chief disciples, Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Mahamoggallanna, arrived at Bhopal Airport on their way to Sanchi, accompanied by Ven. Banagala Upatissa Thero, the custodian of the Holy Relics in Sanchi, and officials of IBC, New Delhi.
The Holy Relics were received by Shri @Indersinghsjp, Minister of Higher Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and Shri @shekhar_sheo, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Tourism, Culture, Home and Religious Trusts & Endowments, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Yesterday I got an opportunity to finally visit the #PiprahwaRelics gallery of the @MinOfCultureGoI,officially called "Light and the Lotus:relics of the Awakened One" at RaiPithora Cultural Centre,Lado Sarai,New Delhi(on Press Enclave Road of Saket).
This exhibition displays the Piprahwa gems recently acquired by GOI which were about to be auctioned to a private bidder at a Sothebys' auction.Also on display are select artifacts related to Lord Buddha which are taken from the collections of @IndianMuseumKol and @NMnewdelhi. Paintings on Lord Buddha by #UpendraMaharathi and other artists from the @ngma_delhi collection are on display as well.
The gallery is a must-visit,not only for those interested in the life of Siddhartha Gautama but also those keen to understand how archaeologists work and put history together piece by piece.
My sincere complements to the whole team of Ministry of Culture led by Hon'ble Culture Minister @gssjodhpur and @secycultureGOI and the vision of Hon'ble PM @narendramodi
in making this project a reality.

An MoU was exchanged between the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the Gandantegchenling Monastery, Mongolia, for the 10-day exposition of the Sacred Relics of Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Mahamoggallana, the chief disciples of Gautama Buddha.
The MoU was exchanged by Shri Samar Nanda, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, and Khambo Nomun Khan D. Javzandorj of Gandantegchenling Monastery in the presence of senior dignitaries from both countries.
This initiative further strengthens the enduring civilizational and Buddhist heritage ties between India and Mongolia.

Hon'ble 🇱🇰 Prime Minister @Dr_HariniA inaugurated the exhibition, 'Dhamma Chhaya' organised by @IndiainSL to commemorate the blessed #Vesak Poya Day. Venerable Kirinde Assaji Thero and Hon'ble Wasantha Samarasinghe, Minister for Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development 🇱🇰 also participated.
'Dhamma Chhaya', a collection from @NMnewdelhi & @IndianMuseumKol is a visual journey through the life of Gautama Buddha, manifested in Indian Art. Jataka Tales Comic books in Sinhala, are also being distributed to children, at the exhibition.

An exposition of the Holy Relics of the chief disciples of the Buddha—Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Mahamoggallana— is being organised in #Mongolia from 1 to 10 June 2026 by the @MinOfCultureGoI, the International Buddhist Confederation, and the @NMnewdelhi, New Delhi.
Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Mahamoggallana were the two chief disciples of the Buddha. Among the countless disciples of the Buddha, none showed greater wisdom and spiritual mastery than Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Mahamoggallana. Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Mahamoggallana were born on the same day in adjacent villages in the Magadha region, near present day Nalanda. Arahant Sariputta was born in Upatissa village and Arahant Mahamoggallana in Kolita village.
