RTÉ is covering the “No Kings” protest against Trump's visit which is organised by "campaign group Uplift".
What RTÉ fails to mention is that Uplift is a powerful NGO with substantial backing from international groups, billionaires & Irish Govt itself.
According to its latest accounts:
Billionaire founder of Ebay, Pierre Omidyar, gave €127,312.
€75,000 from Civitates, a Brussels-based pooled fund whose foundation partners include George Soros’s Open Society
€74,907 from Rowan Trust, an Irish activist-led philanthropic fund (More on them soon)
€18,612 from the Sunrise Project, an Australian-founded international climate campaigning network.
€14,201 from St Stephen’s Green Trust, primarily supported by a Dutch family foundation
The Irish Govt also supports Uplift,
In 2021 and 2022, Uplift’s accounts recorded €150,000 from Rethink Ireland for the Far Right Observatory, for which Uplift acted as lead partner and legal entity.
Uplift is entitled to campaign and protest.
But when RTÉ presents it simply as a “campaign group”, viewers should also be told about the extensive international funding from billionaires and historical Govt co-funding behind its operations.
As usual, just a handful of matters concern the Irish electorate. Issues that get lots of media/political attention, such as Gaza and united Ireland, barely register with people.
From today's Ireland Thinks poll
NOEL GALLAGHER SLAMS GLASTONBURY AS 'WOKE' AND 'VIRTUE SIGNALING':
“It’s getting a bit woke now, that place, and a bit kind of preachy and a bit virtue-signalling. I don’t like it in music – little fucking idiots waving flags around and making political statements and bands taking the stage and saying, ‘Hey guys, isn’t war terrible, yeah? Let’s all boo war. Fuck the Tories man,’ and all that. It’s like, look – play your fucking tunes and get off.”
I totally disagree with the proposal to rename Herzog Park in Rathgar.
Chaim Herzog, born and raised in Dublin and Belfast, went on to become the President of Israel, one of the most influential Irish-born leaders on the world stage ever, and a huge source of pride for the Irish Jewish community and for Ireland. His story is an Irish story.
I call on Dublin City Council not to proceed with their proposal.
This is a very interesting move. There are a lot of homeless voters out there who would vote for her given a chance. Including me.

Kneecap signs letter asking Mayflower to stop a music festival called "Mise Eire" going ahead in venue.
Whatever about who organised the festival or who it benefits, isn't it hypocritical to complain about censorship while supporting censoring others?
See below the substandard conditions that members of @plunketts_ie have had to deal with on an ongoing basis. It is clear that improved playing facilities are badly needed at their playing fields at Martin Savage Park in Ashtown Dublin. Please see linked posts for more details.
