Sad. And when some potential Christian dies of old age decades from now, he’ll always remember how that pulpit-pounder was wrong. Then, in his eyes, the pastor’s testimony about Jesus might be suspect.
This is literally the opposite of fishing for souls.
The Tribulation happened in the first century exactly when, and to whom, Christ said it would.
Saying “there’s NO reason a Christian should consume alcohol” is an absolute lie. A total lie that has zero basis in the Bible.
The Bible frowns against drunkenness.
The Bible does NOT frown against alcohol. The problem is that many misguided puritanical religious zealots present their personal moral choices as Christian teaching and start to enforce their misguided beliefs on others as truth.
There are many multiple biblical reasons why christians can take alcohol.
Let’s start with the Bible.
What do we find that the Bible says about alcohol and Christians?
1. Jesus drank alcoholic wine.
“For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, & you say, ‘He has a demon!’ The Son of Man came eating & drinking, & you say, ‘Look at this glutton & drunkard” Luke 7:33-34a
That is a clear evidence that Jesus himself drank alcohol. Simply by following his example, christians can take alcohol.
2. Jesus turned water to wine at a party.
John2:1-11 details the story of how Jesus turned water to wine at a wedding party. It was so good that the banquet master in verse10 went to the bridegroom and said most people bring out the cheaper wines at parties when people are drunk but you are serving premium wine until the end of the party. It’s like going to a wedding and being served only Henessy from beginning to the end- no cheap wines at all- just premium all through. This is actually what Jesus did.
So this means within the context of a party or celebrations, christians can take alcohol.
3. Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper.
Not only did Jesus drink alcohol, he also instituted what we call the holy communion today.
At the Last Supper, Jesus used the drinking of wine to represent the shedding of His blood in setting up the New Covenant (Matthew 26:26-29, Luke22:19-20, Mark14:22-24). So again, this means within the context of the holy communion, Christians can take alcohol.
4. Paul’s advice to Timothy.
Paul advised his protege Timothy to “use a little wine” for his stomach problems (1 Timothy 5:23). This was clearly for medicinal purposes.
And that means there are situations where a person may take alcohol-containing substances for health reasons. For instance there is ongoing research into how moderate alcohol use may have medical benefits.
5. What the Bible consistently warns against is NOT alcohol drinking. The Bible warns against drunkenness (Ephesians 5:18, Proverbs 23:29-35). Christians are called to be sober-minded (1 Peter 5:8) and so any alcohol use has to be within moderate levels that doesn’t impair judgment or lead to drunken behaviour.
In conclusion,
The Bible does NOT teach that “there is no reason why a Christian should drink alcohol”. This is a falsehood that has its basis in puritanical moralistic dogma which is completely foreign to actual biblical teaching.
What the Bible consistently teaches against is DRUNKENNESS- not the mere use of alcohol within moderate limits. Gal5:19-21, 1Tim3:8, Is5:22.
The same way the Bible warns against GLUTTONY Prov23:20-21, however no sane person will suddenly understand that to mean the Bible is saying there is “no reason why christians should eat food”.
Food is not the problem. Alcohol is not the problem. Drunkenness is the problem. Gluttony is the problem.
Let’s stop introducing our personal bias into the Bible, twisting what it says. Let’s stop teaching our personal moral code as Christian belief. Once we can draw the line between our personal morality and what the Bible teaches, we will have less of this sort of mis-comprehension of clear teachings of the Bible.

The fact that you are a Christian does not in any way take romance out of your marriage. Marriage is the only institution where romance and intimacy is allowed between a man and a woman. Some pastors hardly go on dates with their spouses because they consider such a romantic activity as a distraction from their focus on spiritual matters. Some of them don’t even play with their spouses anymore. Beloved, the anointing does not reduce the need for romance in marriage.
Isaac was an anointed man of God and a successful businessman, yet in Genesis 26:8, the Bible says he was being romantic with his wife:
And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.
Don’t become too rigid in your marriage; don’t have more fun elsewhere without your spouse. Make the times that you and your spouse spend together so much fun that you are always looking forward to seeing each other again. If you are married, remember how you used to talk for long hours with your spouse before you got married and had children; revive that relationship again. Your spouse is still the same fellow you were very fond of, and the things you loved in him or her are still there. Don’t let all the cares of this life distract you from the gems in your spouse.
Once in a while, compose a poem for your spouse and read it to him or her in a romantic setting. Spice things up with pleasant surprises every now and then. Write a note and put it in his or her bag so that when they get to the office and open their bag, they will see the note and smile. Have a pet name that you call each other behind closed doors. Up until today, there is a pet name my wife calls me when we are alone. I equally have a pet name that I call her, and every time I call her by that name, she cannot but smile at me lovingly. When we are alone, we are lovers, not Daddy G.O and Mummy G.O. Your marriage can be like heaven on earth if you and your spouse are deliberate about remaining the lovebirds that you were when you first got married. Don’t let the romance die.
KEY POINT
One of the ways to ensure that your marriage remains like heaven on earth is to keep the romance alive.
Came across this beautiful scripture. Genesis 28:15 “I will not leave you until I have done everything I promised. If you know God Will complete everything he has promised in your life before the month of July ends respond with an Amen.
