As Ms. Brown says, "I know I am just one voice, there are other voices, that have yet to be heard, together we can be the change in our community that we want to see."
Ms. Brown is a source of hope for people who feel like they've lost everything and she is an advocate in every way possible. In 2018, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Hampton Roads area for her outstanding work providing survivors with safe housing options.
Today's spotlight for International Women's History Month is a local hero, Ms. Darryle Brown! She has been working with survivors of domestic violence for over 30 years and has saved thousands of lives. @NNPDDVTeam#WomensHistoryMonth
You might know her as Capt. Benson from Law & Order: SVU, but did you know she's also a hero IRL? Mariska Hargitay is founder of @TheJHF. The organization works to end domestic violence, sexual assault, & child abuse by educating the public & helping survivors.
