Don't forget that the deadlines for Abstracts for Oral Presentations, Travel Grants, and The Conservation Hero nominations are today for our 2025 annual meeting .
We will also be posting the registration and links to lodging later today. We can't wait to see everyone there!
Another point that's very disturbing is when, like me, you're doing variant calling for diagnostic purposes and you don't have access to the source code of variant calling tools. When an error occurs, it's impossible to find the origin of the error if you use closed source tools.
Interested in metabarcoding? Then you should check out this preprint newly recommended on PCI Genomics!

Thanks to the recommender and reviewers for evaluating this preprint!
Work by @rita_rebollo and colleagues on quantifying transposable element expression in fruit flies was just recommended by @NNpollet in PCI Genomics!
The preprint: https://t.co/2ktoDJ11Kx
The recommendation: https://t.co/YmFZA0MW9X
See below for more details.
@rita_rebollo @NNpollet In their newly recommended preprint, @rita_rebollo et al. show that transposable element expression in fruit flies can be more accurately captured with @nanopore long-read sequencing: https://t.co/2ktoDJ11Kx
@rita_rebollo @NNpollet Transposable elements are difficult to study in eukaryotic genomes due to their highly repetitive nature, which is particularly a challenge for short-read sequencing data.
