Finally, Helle Margrete Meltzer and Ellen Trolle of the NNR2022 Committee described some of the many challenges encountered when integrating sustainability into NNR2022.
Helle Margrete focused on a few overarching issues ...
Researcher at Stockholm Resilience Centre, Amanda Wood, provided some highlights from the report "Nordic food systems for improved health and sustainability" with relevance to environment-friendly food systems in Nordic and Baltic countries.
Following the presentations on EU projects related to environment-friendly food systems, we now move to an overview of specific Nordic and Baltic initiatives.
Chair of the SAPEA (Science Advice for Policy by European Academies) working group, Peter Jackson, presented highlights from the SAPEA report on a sustainable, just, and healthy food system for the EU.
Next, Dora Szentpaly-Kleis, the European Commission, presented on the Farm to Fork Strategy โ for a fair, healthy and environmentally-friendly food system.
Senior Adviser at the Norwegian Environment Agency, Ivar Baste, presented on the report "Making peace with nature", focusing on how to scientifically meet emergencies on the climate, biodiversity and pollution.
Prof. Tim Benton, Chatham House, just gave a great talk on sustainable food systems. His synthesis of current scientific evidence with focus on Nordic and Baltic countries will be important for integrating sustainbility in the ongoing NNR update.
