I hate when people invalidate my reaction instead of taking responsibility for what caused it. They’ll downplay their actions, make me question whether I had a right to be upset, and somehow turn the whole situation into a problem with how I reacted.
You spend so much time trying to be an unhealed person’s safe space and show them that you can be trusted and they can let their guard down while disregarding that you need a safe space too and they’re not even attempting to create one. They’re acting like they’re the only one with history or wounds.
