one way this class affected my viewpoint on technology is that it made me realize just how much we depend on digital tech and the internet. It is almost as if we depend on it as a basic necessity in our modern communication and interaction. #DCIM353McCormick
We often lie about our personalities and shape how people view us through our digital presence, however, it is still a reality. It might be a false reality, or a misrepresented one, but it exists in reality nonetheless. This really gave me a new perspective on how to look at the
Specifically, the first of those takeaways is that the digital experience is completely real, and this really struck me. I have always thought of the digital experience as somewhat falsified in some way or another.
One thing I took away from this course is how influential digital technology has been on our social life and values. The three big takeaways as defined by Chayko were most intriguing to me. #DCIM353McCormick
@DCIMisabellaL Hi, even though 3d printing has been around for a while I agree its potential is really only getting started. I saw this really interesting video where a company is 3d printing metal car parts that are designed by an algorithm https://t.co/qQkjSWOQhC
@Selztahry Hi Sumaya, I definitely agree the future is going to be electric. Nearly every large automaker has invested in EVs and I think the economic gains for businesses are actually driving the move towards EVs even more than environmental benefits at this point.
@Ishra_Chowdhury Hi Ishra, I think this is a great prediction and one that is almost certain to come true. When I was researching my emerging tech paper I remember reading that Amazon already has stores where you can simply walk in and walk out with your items and they know what you took.
to provide a new way of interacting with content and digital media. This article explains how VR is already working its way into the workplace, which means that many fields are about to experience disruptive change. https://t.co/TLYkkoPTXO
One prediction I have about the future of digital tech is the advancement and use of virtual reality. We are already seeing companies like Meta implement the VR to new levels through the Metaverse and other platforms. It is likely this tech will advance further #DCIM353McCormick
@sgprutgers88 Hi sofia I think this will definitely be a part of the exam as it is important to know the differences between those two kinds of media, especially today where everyone has access to and is able to create media of their own.
@DCIMisabellaL Hi, I think this will be a topic for sure. I think it will be especially important to know the differences between them and apply definitions
@RichardYc1044 Hi Richard I thought this topic would be important as well. There are definitely pros and cons as you mention and it is important to recognize both
One topic that I think will be important for the test is citizen journalism, which is when normal people use technology to report situations and/or topics themselves, bypassing traditional media. #DCIM353McCormick
@jpowers2022 Hi Juliana,
I think this is a great topic to study for the exam. I think continuity is similar to sustaining innovations in the sense that they both have something to do with keeping old innovations going or at least just updating them slightly.
@Hongwei_Cao_ Hi Hongwei,
I think this will definitely be important to know as there are many different ways relationships can be affected through online platforms. Some argue online relationships can be better than in person, and some argue the opposite.
@Ishra_Chowdhury Hi Ishra, I think this will definitely be important to know for the test. It has been a large part of the class and I think not only having a general idea of what they both mean but also defining factors/differences will be important.
A concept that I think will be important to know for the test will be why good companies fail. There are a few reasons for companies failing, such as poor management, failure to innovate, or failure to provide affordable and/or customer orientated products. #DCIM353McCormick
@lee_sungwan Thanks! One area of biometric tech that a lot of people don’t know is coming to market is biometric authentication for airline boarding. Some airlines/airports have already been implementing technology to make it mainstream. It will be interesting to see how the public adopts it
My EDTP project will be focusing on biometric technology and its potential to revolutionize our digital experience. It is likely that we have all experienced biometric tech in some way (touch/Face ID) however, the technology has a lot more hidden potential. #DCIM353McCormick
