Despite record spending in the MD-06 primary between David Trone and April McClain Delaney, voters seem unenthused by the race.
In Montgomery County, many more voters have mentioned the County Executive race, and the 3 main candidates have more volunteers than Trone + Delaney.
I’ve been out throughout MD today as voters cast their ballots in today’s primaries through a downpour. Turnout has been down across the board, at less than half of 2024 levels.
“This is about as slow as I’ve ever seen it,” a Montgomery County Democratic Party volunteer told me.
Of note: Throughout the day today, many Janeese Lewis George voters told me that Trump’s attacks made them much more likely to vote for her. Not one McDuffie voter cited his prospective relationship with the White House.
When Chuck Schumer & Kirsten Gillibrand put out a joint statement on Graham Platner’s win, it was 80 words into the 89-word message before they mentioned the Senate candidate by name.
