@rabbriansamuel growing up vegetarian and deciding to eat meat doesn't make you "a vegetarian who eats meat" (that makes no sense). it sounds like you are jewish by birth but your practice is *in no way* jewish and if your intentions are true (vs malicious) you shouldn't use the honorary "rabbi"
@Shteygen yes and... there's also incredible stories, medical thoughts, stories from out at sea, all kinds of stuff. and loads of little stories of everyday life (when i visited pompeii bathhouse i was struck by how this must be similar to all the bathhouses in gemorah)
@Shteygen re the actual text one thing i found especially interesting is there are times the gemara will change the text of the mishnah explaining that because it was memorized they left out some important word that actually changes the entire meaning to keep the rhythm
@RobertFreundLaw > Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon...
@ClintFiore seriously though, there's gotta be some triangle of choice here, right? like there's low multiple, clean financials, and seller financing and you can take 2? (i'm sure i didn't just invent that...)
@ClintFiore alternative angle: they're offering 10x on a 20k ebitda business with 80k of ridiculous add-backs ("well we pay this employee 80k but you could fire him and pocket that money so it's an add-back!")
@OrinKerr this seems to me to parallel the talmudic concept of
כל הראוי לבילה אין בילה מעכבת בו
once it's going to be permissible to inventory then why should it matter if you did it in the mcdonalds vs when you got to the police station?
@BravoKiloActual i don't have near the experience you do (just basic open water padi) but i know that:
1. basic padi cert is good for 30m, deeper requires more training/certs
2. cave diving is its own specialized training/cert
so something here seems very, very off
A former colleague just beat a DC speed-camera ticket at the DC Court of Appeals. DC tried to make a ±1 mph margin of error vanish by regulation. The court held a coin flip isn’t clear and convincing evidence.
Ticket dismissed; math remains undefeated.

@Molson_Hart This sucks, I'm sorry. My (post judgement) divorce case in NY rhymes with your experience and I've been told by a few attorneys that though the legal system is broken everywhere it's the worst in NY, that judges here are more used to and accepting of this kind of manipulative bs.
