Dawoud Bey: Elegy at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond https://t.co/8IGwUHTG8r I wrote this piece about Dawoud Bey at the #VMFA
I’m Ready for My Closeup - a screening I organized at Black Ground in Cali, Colombia - Artists include: Autumn Knight, Crackheadbarneyandfriends, Denzel Crispy, Kalup Linzy, Lex Brown, LIZN’BOW, Ming Wong, Nadia Granados, and Nao Bustamante.
Echoing and re-interpreting the (in)famous last scene of the film Sunset Boulevard, “I´m Ready for My Closeup” is a call to tear it up, to let loose, to be fun, and funny, to be ridiculously wild and unbearably expressive, ready to strike a pose that is fierce and fabulous.
I’m honored to be working with Sarah Rifky and Dominic Willsdon on this project at the @ICAVCU supported by the Teiger Foundation https://t.co/LLB5QjvmNI
