As HBO's acclaimed medical drama "The Pitt" concludes its second season, star and creator Noah Wyle is opening up about portraying his first Jewish character - and how the October 7th, 2023 Hamas massacre transformed what the role means to him. Wyle, 54, plays Dr. Michael "Robby” Robinavitch in the series, a character whose Jewish background became "something significant" after the pogrom, he told Jewish Chronicle.
"All of this was before October 7th. After the pogrom, it became something significant in the character," Wyle explained. "We wanted Robby to be distant from his faith and in need of connection to it."
The character's name honors Wyle's own family - his great-grandmother's father was named Robinavitch, and the other side of the family was Rabinsky. Dr. Robinavitch wears a Star of David around his neck and, in a pivotal scene, clutches it while reciting the Shema Israel for comfort.
Israel doesn't teach its children to hate.
It doesn't name streets after terrorists.
It doesn't celebrate murderers as martyrs.
It doesn't use schools to store weapons.
If the roles were reversed, there would be peace tomorrow.
That's the difference.

You asked. The President answered.
In this exclusive conversation, President Isaac Herzog joins StandWithUs Israel Executive Director, Michael Dickson to respond directly to your questions about the conflict with the regime in Iran and the key issues facing Israel today.

The Croatian President’s offensive rhetoric is unacceptable. His hate-filled language about Israel and Zionism reflects an antisemitic approach.
Croatia belongs to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and has pledged to confront antisemitism. The President betrayed these commitments.
Activists protested outside a synagogue, chanting, “Say it loud, say it clear, we support Hamas here.”
Whatever the amnesia surrounding 10/7, the truth must never be forgotten: Hamas murdered, maimed, mutilated, raped, and tortured thousands of innocent Israelis. It is—and has always been—a barbaric oppressor of its own people.
Support for Hamas is not an expression of empathy for Palestinians; it is an expression of antipathy toward Jews and Israelis. Hate has no place in NYC.
Are we witnessing the beginning of the end of the Iranian regime?
Iran’s streets are speaking. Protesters in over 100 locations are defying decades of oppression as the regime responds with violence and an internet blackout to silence the truth.
His legacy is a reminder of the outsized contributions Jewish innovators have made to culture, technology, and creative industries across borders and continents, and of the remarkable global impact of American entrepreneurship.
David Rosen, a Jewish American entrepreneur and co-founder of Sega, helped shape the modern video game industry and bring joy to generations worldwide.
He passed away on December 25, 2025, at 95.
May his memory be a blessing.
Happy New Year 🎆 .
May 2026 be a year of peace and hope. May the last remaining murdered hostage held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza, Ran Gvili, return home to his family. 🎗️
