Instead, Calvin's expression was rather calm, since he knew panicking would not help his current situation. He eventually outstretched his hand, losing his grip on the oar and watching it clatter once again.
"I'm Dr. Calvin Evans," he introduced himself, polite yet feeling -
βSounds like you did, time travel is a thing.β
He said, clearly can tell the other is confused and possibly scared right now.
βIβm John Walker, sorry I didnβt introduce myself earlier.β
"I don't think I want to answer this," Calvin said, shaking his head and readjusting in his seat. The pain was still very distracting for him, and he'd rather not add those types of thoughts on top of it.
Yeonho balanced his chin over his curled in knees. There was a slight moment of contemplation as he watched over Calvinβs features; mainly to make sure he wasnβt okay.
Thin eyes followed the wheelβs tire before looking back up. βHave you everβ¦ felt not enough?β
"It was nineteen-fifty-three... about an hour ago, sir," he said, resuming his fidgeting with the oar. The man before him was a stranger, but one of the nicer people he'd come across today.
Now, Calvin was a hundred and seven years old.
"Are you saying I traveled through time?"
βItβs 2026.β
He said to the other, heβs never seen him around before, why is he dressed up like heβs from the 1920s?
βA lot has changed over the years, new machines. Suppose you are not from this time period?β
John asked with a quirked brow, heβs never seen him before.
βI didnβt mean to startle you. I justβ¦ wanted company.β
Little eyes carefully shifted upwards to meet with Calvinβs, a leveled pout appearing on his features. βMr. Evans? May I ask a question? That might beβ¦ heavy?β
"Oh, I'm just havingβ a day, sir," he managed, though he looked a little panicked. He'd seen several people using machines he didn't recognize, someone told him he was in the twenty-first century, and he didn't know where he was. "If I may be honest, I'm lost. What's the year?"
"Shh, shh, shh. I'm sorry. You startled me a little. I wasn't expecting company," he said, petting the top of his head. Showing he was friendly. He was just irritated that today didn't go like he'd planned.
"Yeah. Nerves, I think," he said as he reached to pick up the oar again. He'd never known himself to be the nervous type, so he'd meant that literally. "Malfunction, maybe... Did I bother you?"
John heard a noise, like clatter. He went to investigate to see what was going on.
βHey, are you okay?β
He asked when he approached the scene, giving a look of concern.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry if I almost stepped on you! You really shouldn't sit in front of my chair, though," He said, lecturing the little guy before reaching out for him. Physical therapy was /not/ going well.
A yip darted out as he hurled his legs into his chest. Thin eyes shifted up.
βAnnyeonghaseyo {Hi.}.β He mumbled carefully. Luckily, there wasnβt a collision otherwise, the evening would be in a completely separate state Yeonho was not wanting to deal with.
Calvin was far too distracted by the pain to notice the fact that he nearly tripped over something on the way to his chair, eyes squeezed shut while he tried to relax before he eventually blinked around.
"Uh... Hi."
Yeonho sat crisscrossed in front of the wheelchair. His bleached hair vibrantly messy after hours of messing with it.
Perhaps he didnβt see him. Or if he did, he simply ignored him.
Humming to himself while he packs lunch for tomorrow, nearly stumbling when the phantom pains hit him before freezing in his spot, adjusting before finishing his preparations. Then, he hangs up his apron and sits in his wheelchair before removing his left leg prosthetic.
He forgot his mother was stopping by to look after Mad while he goes to physical therapy, and was startled when he opened the front door.
They're not talking because he doesn't know what he's supposed to say to her, but if Elizabeth trusts her around Mad, he won't interfere.
- had been just him for a very long time.
"Um. I'm sorry. This must be very confusing," he said after a moment, realizing he hadn't introduced himself, awkwardly offering a smile. "I'm Calvin. Do you... remember your name?"
Calvin went quiet for a moment, nodding his head in understanding.
He'd been orphaned twice. His last name belonged to his adoptive family before the accident that put him back in the system.
He didn't have anyone to ask about potential medical issues or family history. There -
-- gently, a small smile gracing her lips. βI appreciate the offer but no...thank you.β She spoke before quickly adding. βI donβt have anyone that I can contact. Itβs just me.β She lowered her head for a moment in an attempt to consider her options.
