EFCC Arraigns Man, Firm for N7.8m Fraud in Ibadan
The Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, August 13, 2026 arraigned one Adeoye Gabriel Adewale and his firm, De Lukas Global Concept Limited before Justice Olusola Adetujoye of the Oyo State High Court, sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The defendant allegedly defrauded one Abdulrasaq Awotedo by presenting himself as a car dealer and obtained the sum of N7, 819, 000.00 (Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Nineteen Thousand Naira) from him for the purchase of two cars.
Adewale allegedly perpetrated the fraud through a fake car mart presented to his victim, received the money through his company bank account domiciled with First Bank and converted the money to his personal use.
He was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on stealing by conversion to the tune of N7, 819, 000.00 (Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Nineteen Thousand Naira), belonging to Awotedo.
The one -count charge reads: “That you, Adeoye Gabriel Adewale and De Lukas Global Concept Limited between 6th October, 2021 and 23rd March, 2022, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, converted to your own personal use, the sum of N7, 819, 000.00 (Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Nineteen Thousand Naira), property of one Abdulrasaq Awotedo and thereby committed an offence of stealing by conversion contrary to Section 390(9) Criminal Code Act, Cap C38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”
The defendant pleaded “not guilty” to the count charge when it was read to him.
Consequent upon his plea, prosecution counsel, Sanusi Galandachi prayed the court for a trial date and the remand of the defendant in a Correctional Centre.
However, counsel to the defendant, A. Towolawi informed the court that bail application has been filed, praying the court to admit the defendant to bail pending the hearing and determination of the charge against his client.
Justice Adetujoye thereafter adjourned the matter for hearing of the bail application and remanded the defendant in Agodi Correctional Centre.

My right eye started itching on Saturday evening. I probably wouldn’t have realised I was using the wrong eye drops if I hadn’t mentioned it on the @SquaredNow_ platform. We have a pharmacist in the community, she asked the right questions, and she recommended what I actually needed. Moments like this are such a reminder of why I should remain there. Beyond productivity, they actually care about me. They have shown up for me in ways I don't even expect them to.

This week, while working on real-time https://t.co/IWRK13bqCv features, I ran into a recurring challenge: documenting behaviour that doesn’t fit neatly into tools like Postman.
For traditional APIs, tools make life easy: you send a request, get a response, then you document it.
Sometime last week, our payment system processed a transaction that should have failed.
A customer tried to buy something for 250,000, but their account only had 150,000 . Our system caught it in just milliseconds, declined the purchase, and suggested alternative payment methods.
